I have an interesting problem with my G26.  Every once and a while, when I pull the trigger, the slide disengages.  I pull the trigger and the slide moves foreward 1/8 inch or so.  It doesn't happen every time, and not being a Glock expert, I'm not sure what the hell is going on.  Any ideas?

Sounds like it might be dirty. I would thoroughly clean and lube the G26 properly. Then if that does not solve the problem, test the guide rod to see if it might need replacing.

Replace the whole guide rod spring assembly.

Will the slide continue come off completely, or just go forward 1/8 and stop?  If it will continue to come off, check to make sure that the slide lock spring is still intact.  The slide lock is the "takedown lever" not the slide stop which is also known as a slide release on other guns.  Also, have you recently removed or changed the slide lock?  If you didn't install it correctly, with the small machined groove to the rear, it might cause what you are describing.

At first I thought exactly what H53 Expert wrote but I believe now, that the problem was not well descibed.

I am not sure if the slide moves to a fully locked position when the trigger is pulled or if the slide is coming off the frame. I have a hard time imagining the slide coming forward off the frame for just 1/8". A broken slide lock, spring will usually cause the slide to come off all the way.

Yeah, it looks like your right.  But the slide will not necessarily go flying off completely unless you tilt the gun down.  Otherwise, it just pops forward about an 1/8 of an inch.  But reading it again, it looks like what he meant to say was, the slide comes out of battery about an 1/8 of an inch when he pulls the trigger.  That is completely different than what he wrote, and in that case, either his recoil spring is worn, or he installed a high power firing pin spring, and he needs to install a stronger recoil spring assembly.

I have not taken the take down lever apart, but the problem must have something to do with this.  The slide will indeed come all the way off if I pull on it after this happens.

The spring is pushing the lever up very well, and does not seem to be weak or catching in anything.

Okay.....after playing with it a bit, I have noticed when the slide does come foreward, the takedown lever is down part way (without me touching it of course).

ETA:  there is something catching the lever.  When it is down (about half way), I cannot push it back up.

ETAA:  I can also only get it to happen when I let the slide slam home.  If I ease it down, the takedown lever stays up.

Almost sounds like it is in backwards(Slide Lock). The lock should have the large slot up and facing toward the rear. Let us know.

No........the large slot is facing forward!  Which is wierd, as I have never taken this out!  Looks like it was put in this way at the factory.

I reversed this, and it took care of the problem.

THANK YOU everyone for your help!  I really appreciate it!
