For a while now we have been disappointed with the lack of a really nice, quality, and well thought out set of micarta stocks cut in the traditional double diamond pattern. We at the shop have used just about every brand that has been in the market place and, while some have been okay, none has really fit the bill. Most double diamond micarta stocks needed help in a few areas, some fit well on the bushings while others didn’t... some varied in thickness from stock to stock... some had checkering that was “inconsistent” at best... some had edges that were a bit on the rough side... some had misshaped relief cuts for the mag catch... and so on. No doubt there was a need for a truly quality set of micarta stocks that wear the traditional double diamond pattern, and here’s what they look like.
What you see here is the newest offering from the Yost-Bonitz shop, double diamond micarta stocks made for us by John at VZ grips. Most here are well familiar with John’s stocks and to say they are exceptional would be understating things a bit. John has a well thought out approach to manufacturing and the skill to make stocks that look good, last, and are a step above what came before them. And, it’s nice to add that John is a helluva great guy to boot.
These stocks are currently available through the Yost-Bonitz shop and in our opinion
they are quite simply the way double diamond micartas should be. In fact we liked them so much they are now the standard item on every 1* pistol we build.
