I work at one of the "big box" retailers and we got a used, in very good condition (about 75-85%) a Smith and Wesson Performance Center Model 19 3" black with porting. Thinking about buying it, but I can't really find much about it, any help on getting info.

You might want to ask over at the Smith and Wesson forums.  I know most any PC gun is going to be a "buyer".

Sounds like the K-Comp from 1994. 75-85% isn't very good for a gun of that vintage. That puts it into NRA Good to Very Good (at best). What's the price tag?

Getting it for just over $400.00 plus shipping to my home state. I'm a little harsh on the percentage estimate on the condition, most of the wear appears to be a very noticable ring around the cylinder and a few minor scuffs on the frame. After having a little time at work to clean it and run a bore snake in it, doesn't appear to be used very much.

It's really hard to judge without handling the gun or viewing good pictures. It will probably be a great shooter and $400 isn't out-of-line anymore for a clean regular 3-in. Model 19. But from your description I doubt it will have much collector interest even if it's a Performance Center gun.

Yeah, not really interested, to be completely honest, in collectibility, looking more for personal carry. So far got a Kimber Pro Carry II Stainless, but would like a smaller revolver for carry.

You could not get a finer gun for CCL, IMO. Lighter, yes; but not finer!

With the porting, you're gonna have to try your carry ammo at a night shoot, see how much it flames up. Lots of flash = loss of night vision = not good.

Porting is also hell on trying to do a tucked hand position shoot, i.e. holding the hand almost next to one's rib cage. The ports will barbecue some of your ribs if you're not real careful!

Damn fine gun though! Action will be as smooth as warm butter.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, kinda worried about the porting as well since its basically a 1/4" hole infront of the front sight. But that action is smooth, short throw too on the double action side as well.
