I understand that 9mm P226 mags will work for the .40 SW P226 also? Anyone tried that?

IIRC, Feed lips on the mags are different as is the follower.

I've used 9mm mags in a 40 but only for range use. I used factory Sig mags and Eagle mags they each held 12 40s and functioned perfectly.

Factory 9mm Sig mags work fine with 12 rounds of .40 or .357 Sig.  I learned this during the dark years...

Heard this and was told they worked (2nd hand info at best).  I've no reason to use 9 mags w/ .40 though as I've got a bunch of .40 SIG and Mec-Gar 12 rounders.

MC-GAR makes the Sig .40-.357 mags for sig under the Sig name. and they run$30. MC-GAR to my knowledge does not make a .40-357 12rd mag for sale to the public under the Mc-Gar name. They do however make 9mm 17rd mags for the P226 and are cheaper (I think) than the ones they make for Sig.    Did that make sense?????

I've got both; a couple of shiney Mec-Gar 12 rd. LEO, and several Mec-Gar SIG factory .40 / .357 12 rd. with the dull finish.  Recenly, my NIB 226R .40 came with two Mec-Gar .40 / .357 12 rd. and they had no LE markings!  Only two of those atm, but I need more.

The new P226 .40 cal I just bought came with 2 Non LEO 12rd MC-Gar/Sig mags. Buying the MC-GAR 9mm mags are cheaper than the .40 Sig mags If they work as some say?
