I had issues shooting .45 ACP Blazer Brass through my S&W1911 PD.  Out of 100 rounds, roughly 10 failed to extract.  To boot, the fired brass looked like it went through hell (i.e. very rough at the neck).  After this negative experience, I will NOT be purchasing any more for practice.  I was just wondering if anyone else has had issues with this particular ammo?

FWIW I have had no problems with WWB or UMC value packs in this same pistol.  I even shot the older Golden Sabres, which are known to cause 1911s grief, without incident.  I guess Blazer Brass should be treated like Blazer Aluminum...  Hell, I even had better results with Wolf

My XD45 has handled Blazer Brass and aluminum with 100% reliability. The aluminum was not very accurate. The brass was better. They were the same price, so will shoot the brass.

I put about 100 rounds through my TRP the other day without a single malfunction.

FWIW I was using CMC Power Mags

I've shot 1700 rounds of Blazer Brass through my Springfield 1911 with one problem.  Once, the bullet pushed too deep into the casing, and luckily, it caught on the barrel because if it hadn't, the case pressures may have been dangerously high.  It very well could have been the gun, or a weak crimp on the round, I don't know which.

I have no real preferences towards what .45 ACP ammo I shoot, just whatever is brass cased and cheap.  Typically, I've been buying lots of Blazer Brass and some of the MFS Hungarian stuff.

I guess I will try some more later down the road.  I seem to be bit with getting bad lots of cheap ammo lately.

FWIW I only use Wilson Combat 47D and Novaks mags in my 1911.

My two cents:

I recently bought 500 rounds while it was on sale at Natchez for $8.99/50 to try out, and after this weekend at the range I'm damn glad that I didn't buy more.  Out of the first 100 rounds I had 17 that had SEVERE bullet setback issues (as in the cartridge OAL was over 1/4" short) out of the box, and after hand inspetcing the remainder of the 500 upon returning home, I found another 24 with the same severe setback issues and approx 51 others that the bullet was slightly/visibly set back into the case, but that are still probably safe to fire.

But the other 408 of 500 rounds looked OK... I guess 82% isn't too bad

I'm reasonably sure that my experience is just a bad lot, and of the rounds that I did fire it seemed OK for the price, but I'll not be buying this stuff again anytime soon.

i have fired about 500rds of the blaser brass in my glock 19, 500 more in my ruger p95 when i had it, and about 500rds of the .40 in my xd and kahr k-40 and i have never had a problem with it at all. it isn't the most accurate ammo in the world, but it is inexpensive and is good enough for practice. i too use alot of wwb thopugh and it is equally reliable without any issues, though it is a little more accurate.

MGinVA,
did Natchez packed the ammo right when they shipped it to you? any cushioning used to prevent damage?

They shipped an entire case to me and not bother packing it and half of my ammo had severe setbacks.  They refunded for the amount and CCI/Speer shipped me an entire case to replace it.  I notice the same thing w/ some of the ammo from WalMart as whoever they get their ammo from did the same thing...ammo boxes had corner dents and chewed up edges....a very good indication that it is the handling after it left factory.

The setbacks on mine were NOT factory cause but due to UPS handling and Natchez's not bothering to either double box or cushion the ammo.  They shipped it in the factory box w/ shipping label slapped on.  1000rd of .45acp is NOT light either....about 44lb in one dense box.

Anyhow, back to topic asked...no problems here with Blazer Brass or Aluminum; might want to check your extractor tension on that 1911 and polish the ramp leading to the unramped barrel.

I forgot to follow up on this.  After having problems with Blazer Brass, I hit the range a few weeks ago with some WWB, UMC, and MagTech ammo in the same pistol that had issues with the Blazer Brass.  I had NO problems with the other ammo, so I am thinking I just received a bad lot of Blazer Brass from Wally World.  Oh well, plinking ammo is just that, so I may try Blazer Brass again at some point in the future.

I've shot off hundreds of rounds of Blazer Brass with no troubles.  It's fired fine through my Sig 220 and Springfield 1911.  It's clean burning for being so cheap and the brass is good to reload.  It's reasonably accurate through my 1911, but the 220 loves the stuff.  It'll shoot it almost as well as my handloaded match rounds.  MJD

I had the same issues - With my 1911, Blazer Brass is useful for malfunction clearance drills - out of 100 rounds, I had 20 double feeds. WWB and UMC FMJ runs fine in my Springer, as does Golden Saber 230gr. This happens with all my mags - Metalform 7rders & Wilson 47D 8rdrs.

MY 1911 just eats up the Blazer Brass .45 ammo. Now that I'm working my way towards 6,000 rounds I would have to say the Blazer is fine ammo. No problems experienced. In fact I haven't found any ammo that my Rock Island doesn't like. Oh I use Novak 8 round mags if that means anything,

A few days ago I tried some Blazer Brass in my recently acquired CDNN Glock 19, and it digested the BB with no problems.

I bought 500 rounds at a great price . I didn't have any issues
loading or extracting but I found it to be wildly inaccurate .

I don't claim to be a bullseye shooter , but I can usually put
all my rounds on an 8" target @ 15yds . At first I suspected I was
having a problem with the gun since there was no discernible pattern
to the shots . So I loaded my carry ammo mag back into the weapon
and put 8 rounds into about 2" .

I still wasn't 100% convinced it wasn't the gun , because I've seen
ammo that didn't perform well in one weapon shoot like a champ in others .
At the next range session I brought a selection of .45 cal guns . HK USPC
Kimber 1911 , Springfield 1911 , Sig 220 and a HK USC  which is typically
a tack driver even with cheap ammo .

Out of the handguns , the HK liked it the best with 6" groups @ 15 yds
Out of the others , none kept all rounds on the 8" target @ 15yds and the
Carbine faired no better and actually had 2 FTE's in 20 rounds .

I won't be buying any more

I have had NO trouble witth any of the BLAZER ammo, Brass case or Alum. case. The Alum. case stuff has a reputation of fouling Mags.,But thats after 1000's of rounds. And we all have learned about magazine maintance recentaly, So keep shooting this good ammo.

Brass and Aluminum are Both are ok out of my Gold Cup Series 70

My MAC10 .45 likes aluminum but not the brass which is the opposite of some other people using the same type of gun.

If I am shooting I will use the Aluminum over the cheapy brass

or shoot the Speer Brass cases instead

Add me to the list of people getting extreme setback with Blazer Brass.  I've shot quite a bit of it, but never really had the opportunity to know if I was getting setback as I just load it and shoot it.  I chambered a few rounds in my 1911 and got varying degrees of setback.  I also can push the bullet into the case by pressing it against the side of my desk.

I shot a box through my new 220 last week and had a problem with cartridge length in one of my 3 Mecgar 8 round mags.  The rounds were too long for it to load more than 3 rounds into the mag.  The other 2 mags did not have this problem so I am assuming the mag is just slightly shorter in length than the other 2.

The ammo shot fine other than the issue with the one mag.  I just recently bought a 3rd mag but I neglected to mark the new one so I don't know if it is the one that was giving problems.  This was the first time shooting Blazer Brass.

I did not have any problems with Gold Dot ammo but it's shorter COL due to the shorter HP bullet.

That is seriously messed up.

The scary part is that I've been shooting this stuff.  It's back to Speer Lawman or WWB for me.

BradD, did you get your's from Natchez when they had it on sale?  I had used it in the past with out any problems.  My Wilson eats everything, except this Lot of Blazer.  OAL is all over the place.

I have 356 rds of Blazer Brass through my XD45 with approx 600rds waiting to be fired.   I have had zero problems with this ammo.  Also, I have found it to be pretty accurate when I take my time with the trigger.  Here is a target from a trip a couple of weeks ago.

15yds, 26rds (2 mags) of CCI BB
