hello guys. i'm not new to glocks currently own a 17 which is chopped to a 19 grip length, tfo's, tlr-1, extended mag release, yada yada. anyways I have to be honest that I don't carry as often as I like and with our crazy country getting worse day by day puts me a little on edge. it gets hotter than haties here and I'm a cargo short and t-shirt kinda guy in the summer. havent tried the appendix carry but thinking that may be my best option. I do wear undershirts and a leather belt daily. i'm 5'11 230 and have a little bit of a gut. so of you guys who carry in the summer heat what do you prefer?
on a side note i'm not afraid to chop a 19 to a 26 grip length so if any of you are carrying that and want to give imput I'd appreciate it. |

I carry my 19 on me everyday but will switch to my 30S when it comes in. You could carry anything you feel comfortable with but make sure you get the right holster and belt and you'll be fine.

19. Stupid easy to conceal with a good belt and holster even at 6'1 160lbs. A 26 would be easier but I prefer a grip I can get my whole hand on.

If you already have a 17 chopped to take 19 mags, a 19 isn't going to do anything for you. Get a 26.

If you're going to carry AIWB then you can easily hide a G19, or for that matter the 17 you already own. I carry a G26 and a G19. When I carried IWB @ 4:00 the 26 was all I could hide effectively while moving around. But up front I easily hide the 19 and it in fact carries more comfortably and concealed that the 26 AIWB.
Give carrying the Glock, or any other striker fired pistol AIWB very serious consideration before just jumping in. Re-holstering can end your life if there's a negligent discharge and with the striker fired, no safety on or hammer to thumb types of pistols the risk is higher. Lot and lots of safe dry-fire practice. I can no valid reason whatsoever to chop a G19 grip. Cheers! -JC ETA fix a typo |

Good holster (comp-tac, crossbread, RCS) and a G19 for the win!

26 is a great pistol - however it is not really small or slim enough to be a pocket gun. Basically it is too close to the 19 - you might as well get the 19 and have a full grip, a couple more rounds, slightly great sight radius.

|
On days when i cant carry IWB i put the 26 on my ankle. Tried the 19 on the ankle and it prints. 26 fits perfectly
Obviously IWB only i would take the 19 - but some days its not possible |
|
I have both and feel they carry almost the same. The shorter grip is what gives the edge to the G26.
I prefer the capacity of the 19 |
|
For whatever reason I shoot my 26 better than my 19. Not much, but enough to make the choice easy. The 26 with GAP floorplates in a MTAC is my EDC. I consider it a good bit easier to conceal and much more comfortable than my 19.

Summer lighter clothing I carry my 26, winter in Wisconsin I carry my 19.

Quoted: Glock 19 Is best 19! View Quote Of course it is. Personally, the G26 is too big to serve as a pocket gun for me and as a holstered gun I just haven't found a time that I could carry the 26 that I couldn't carry the 19 just as easily/well... and I much prefer the 19, shoot it far better. 19 for me, more that two decades as my primary CCW piece, no plans to change. |

thanks for the tips on aiwb. will definitly take those caution's very serious and make sure I try it several times unloaded/ trigger set. almost a 50/50 decision guess I might just have to go to the LGS and feel them out again. I do like the longer sight radius of the 19/17 but since I do have my 17 I think comfort will prevail in this decision. thanks all for your imput and still open to more comments.

Not all that unusual, I know more than a few people who shoot better with and prefer a 26 over a 19 (or a 27 over a 23). I'm not one of them, but it doesn't surprise me any more. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I'm not one of them, but it doesn't surprise me any more. I'd hate to have to choose one permanently. Luckily, I just have to choose daily. OP, there is no good reason to chop a 19 that I can think of. Edit to ad: shoot both if possible. You may shoot one much better than the other. |

I'm not one of them, but it doesn't surprise me any more. I'm one of them. I wouldn't say I'm more accurate when slow firing / target shooting but I am quicker accurately with the G26. For me I think it just boils down to trigger time and familiarity. I have a .22lr conversion for the G26 because it's my primary carry gun and wanted to practice a lot with it and I do almost daily dry-fire practice from the holster with a G26. But I did hear somewhere that some consider the G26 to inherently be a more accurate gun due to a shorter and stiffer barrel. I don't know that to be true but I think I read it somewhere here. Cheers! -JC |

I had a 19, my wife liked it, so not its hers and I bought a G26. Love it. Very happy with it.

OP,I have a 26 and 19. Similar build, 6' 235lbs. Live in hot and humid Florida, so usually in shorts and t shirt, or polo type shirts.
I've found I can conceal either 26 or 19 about equally IWB at 3 or 4 oclock. With the right cant OWB that rides high at 3 oclock I can conceal about as well as IWB with the polo or work uniform style shirt. That being said, I carry the G19. I shoot it better. I've shot IDPA fairly frequently with both. I have missed fully seating standard factory mags several times on reloads because I cant seem to grip the 26 well enough. Both fine handguns for carry, but G19 for me. For the record, I have G17, 19, 26 and the same flavors in .40 as well as a G30. The G19 is the one I carry. |

30sf, about the same size as a 19, which I also own and love and carry.
cuz i can only carry 10 in CT. and the thing is perfect size for me and accurate as they come. And I am saving for a 26 too. |

Recently picked up a new to me 19 with a nicely done grip chop, reduction, and stipple job--easier to conceal than my main carry thats very concealable to begin with (dw cco). I got it for summer carry days/tshirt weather when I don't want to get the 1911 soaked in sweat and don't want to think twice about printing. A good cant and a low ride in a white hat max tuck at 330/4 o'clock make it disappear with a flush mag.
That said, I sure as hell wouldn't trust myself to do any of the mods that were done to what I have now though you might want to look into having it done. I will, however, be sorting out the gen 4 weak ass ejection problem ive noticed one way or another |
|
I recently got a 26 as a bug for a G17 duty gun. Took it to the range last week and went through about 300 rds. Not a hiccup, and it was damn accurate. with the +2 extensions the grip is nice. I need to practice more with the flush mags too. If its your primary CCW then rock the +2's and you will be happy.
I havent been the biggest glock fan but I had to start loving them due to my dept and hang up the 1911 for hard use, I suck at going back and forth between the two. 19 is next on my list for sure. |

I have a G17 and recently got a G19 and I cant imagine a better carry pistol.
I have used or handled a 26 yet hope to change that soon |

Quoted:Dress and carry appropriately. View Quote Said the man who does not understand livningin an arid cliamte. Carried my glock 21 for awhile and hatedit even in the winter. Picked up a 26 and love it. I tried 3 diferent leather and kydex "hybrid" holsrers, all IWB, and hated them all. every single one of them was built ground up for a 1911 full frame and retrofited with a scabard for the 26 which is just stupid. Big oll hunkin slab of leather that a cannot be adusted enough to tuck that baby low and cant her for easy draw when driving. Tried a desentes tuckable IWB and hated it. Also pushed the hun up real high ad could not cant it properly. I ordered a custom Deep Concealemnt Rig (DCR) from Rogers Custom Kydex Holsters. He has a Facebook page also. Took 3 months to get my holster but he made it to my exact specifications. The oly thing more comfortable than this holster is just tuckig it in my waist at 3 o'clock and sinching my belt down. I carry at 3:00 to 3:30 and in 110 degre weather i am in fargo shorts and a t shirt with very mild prinitng that is less than a cell phon on yor belt. I hae the pistol canted 20 degrees forward and tucked very deep in my pants. There is a line drawn from the base of the rear sight and the crotch of the triger guard. That line rides the hem of my pants. The pistol rides such that the slide angle about the same as the pocket on my shorts and I can easily reach i my pocket for my keys. and even draw while driving and seatbelted. I have tried this in a safe environmet, No, not my garage. Local desert trails. |

I switch between both, depends on how tight the t-shirt I'm wearing is. The 26 with +2 extensions carries the same as a the 19. If you plan on using +2 extensions on a 26, just get a 19.

I had a Glock 26 with the factory +2 floorplates on it. I then bought a Glock 19 for my daughter and took a long hard look at them both. The +2 floorplate almost makes the 19 the same height and you are talking semantics with the 1/2 inch length of the barrel and slide. I shoot the 19 better than the 26 and it balances in the hand better. I sold the 26 and got a 19. I found one in mint shape for 329 at a pawnshop about 3 years ago. It was missing the front sight. I bought a set of meprolights and have not looked back. It had 3 15 round and a 10 round magazine in a zippered pouch. Glock 19 will do everything a person can ask for over the 26 and holds 3 more rounds at 16; 5 more if you use the 10 round magazines.
