What brand or brands of 1911s do you currently own?  I'm curious to see if most have a brand loyalty, or if they spread it around.

I have:

-Colt
-Springfield Armory
-Kimber
-Les Baer
-Caspian (custom)
-S&W
-Para Ordnance
-Ithaca

Colt

Prefer the springers, both were 100% from the box.

Want to buy a Wilson next.

If you like Wilson, check out Nighthawk Custom.  I saw two belonging to Joe_Blacke, and was very impressed.  They were the same price as a comparable Wilson, built by Wilson's best former pistolsmiths, and the attention to detail was phenominal.

Colt seems to be the brand of choice anymore.  Wave, I've said it before, but I love that DW.  It looks perfect with those grips.  Which gives me an idea.  We should start a grip gallery.  I just wish DWs were more popular here.  I've only seen them in 1 local gunstore, andit's the most expensive shop in town.

Hobbs or any other smith,
Have any of youse taken a peek at the DW's "guts"?  I've heard that while the slide fit may be great, that the "trigger support" or something like that is out of whack (from John Jardine).  I was just wondering what y'all thought of 'em?

Kimber TLE  -  3 yrs old, flawless from day one to present

Kimber Compact CDP  -  2 yrs old, flawless from day one to present

Dan Wesson PM-Exp  -  1½ yrs old & flawless from day one to present, excellent trigger

Wilson KZ-45  -  1 yr old, finicky from day one with many FTF's, but after 600 rounds and a lot
of dry fire practice, it has smoothed out and is now quite reliable

On the horizon:

Les Baer Concept VII

Honestly, I've seen a couple in the case at the gunshop, and that's it.  I read great things about them, but I have no experience whatsoever with them.  I have not read anything bu glowing reviews though.

Before you wet yerself.... it isn't one of the "custom" units out of John Jardin's shop.
www.valtrousa.com/handguns.html
It's just a regular production unit... built in Italy. I'm by no means a 1911 expert and I've no 1911 experience with any other 1911 so I can't compare it to Colt, Kimber etc... Friends of mine who are more in the know re. 1911's are impressed with this gun's fit/finish and the trigger has made a few guys cream their jeans...
As for shootability.... I have no complaints. I've only ever fired my reloads in this gun and stick mainly to 230gr jacketed RN. 'Goes bang every time with no breakage or trouble. 'Bout 3000 rounds thru it to date...
I do mostly IDPA type shooting with this gun and it's worked out well.... I can vouch for what some say is the inherent accuracy of the 1911.... whether its the grip, the bore axis, the 1911 juju or whatever.. I can hit what I aim at way better than with my G17

Mine looks just like this pic lifted off the Valtro site 'cept I've replaced the walnut grips with black "Alumigrips" in order to be uber-tactical...

In action...
