Hi guys, getting a G 19 this week with the 3.5 mod.  Gun feels good in my hand and luckily the finger groves fit right for me.   Also thinking of getting another handgun with this purchase in a larger caliber.  I would welcome some thoughts on which larger caliber I should consider and what gun model.  When I asked the sales guys this question, I got the Glock 21 three out of three times.

Personally i would take a 22 over anything but a 21 would be a close second with a 20 or 23 in third... but thats just me...  Think long and hard about whether or not you want a Glock.. cause once you buy one you can't stop

23 or 21 can't go wrong.

G23, either you like the .40 or you don't and if you don't you can easily drop in a 9mm or .357 sig  barrel and have the ability to shoot 3 different calibers from the same gun.
As much as I complained about my Glock when I had it "fit, feel, finger grooves" once it was stolen I miss it and it's versatility.

Do you want to carry this second gun as well, or just a range shooter larger caliber?

Primarily as range shooter and home defense, but would like to be able to carry to switch out the 19 on occasion.

Well if you want to stay with the same caliber why not a G17 for the range & bedside, but if you want variety I would personally go with the G21sf with light for those roles myself.

Thanks for the feedback.  After doing a quite a bit of reading and self reasoning I think I'm going with .45 as larger caliber.  I've always wanted a 1911 since my buddy got his SA and for now would like to standardize on two calibers.  My first 9mm was a 92fs which I still have.

So I'll look into the 21 again, as well as the 21sf and the 36 to see how they feel.  I remember the 21 being quite mighty!

Edit:  Oh yeah, and the 30 too!

So, what do you guys think would be better for CCW G19 or G23,  I have all the stuff to reload 9mm.  I found a really good deal on a G23 LE trade in and want to give glock a try.

Start your own thread dude.
OP, the question of "why" a larger caliber, occurred to me............but that's an academic debate, I suppose.

I can say my G23 has been flawless, great pistol.  I would highly recommend it if you're looking for a "larger" caliber.

G21 gets good reviews too though...........I don't own one, but there are alot of satisfied folks who do.

HA!  Yes!

Good call............well-played.  This is the perfect excuse to go get a 1911.  Unless he already has one.......................

If you have always wanted a 1911 then that's what I would suggest.  But if you want to stick with the Glock, I highly recommend the 21sf.  The only downside is that it is a big gun.  If you plan to carry it I think the 30sf would be a better choice.  A 19 and 30sf are both well suited to all home defense/ccw needs.

get a glock35 (.40 cal.) competition/target model. it has a 5.5" barrel, adj sights, lightened trigger and other custom features right out of the box, but only costs slightly more than a standard gun! then get a lone wolf .357 sig conversion barrel for $100 and you can shoot 2 excellent calibers out the same pistol as mags and everything are exactly the same. the .357 sig gives the same performance as the .357 magnum revolver round, with some loadings exceeding 1500fps! it sizzles!!!

Got to get a "feel" on the 30 and 36 today.  I have to say I really preferred the feel of the 30 over the 21 and 36. I was also introduced to the xd 45 with and xd 45 sc.  They both fit pretty good in my hand.  Anyone have any experience with the xd 45s?

XD is a nice gun, but then just wait for the XDm in .45 ACP to come out!

As for a companion to the G19....  a)  get what fits your hand.  b) get a Glock.  c)  shoot it lots!!

I think the G19 could be one of the best CCW guns out there!  I carry a G21SF/G30SF on-duty/off-duty with my G36 as backup.  My G36 has affectionately been named Spanky!  Duty rounds are Fed HST 230gr +P.  Coming out of "Spanky" you tell the difference compared to our old Hydra-shoks!

I can same-hole drill with any of them at 20-25ft unrested and they're all flawless performers!

You said the G30 fits well in your hand, or was it the G30SF?  Either way, another fine gun that other than width, about the same size as the G19(alas, not the same holsters!)     G36 however, would use same holster

Best of luck!!
