I love the platform for the 229, I call it the AR-15 of pistols. You can shoot everything from economical 9mm to hi-power .357 SIG.

I agree the 229 is one of the most versatile pistols on the market .

It is also one of the most reliable!

My favorite SIG would have to be my new P220ST.

I own only one Sig.  Guess which one.  The grip is almost too big for my hands, but of course I'm used to the new Kahr P9 I just bought for concealed carry.

My favorite Sig is the only model I haven't owned (well, other than a P210).  A P225.  It seems to fit my hand perfect.  I really like my P228, and there isn't mcuh difference in the two to mention, but the P225 feels just a little bit better to the point of just perfect fit.  I'll keep looking, just haven't found the right one yet.

just feels like it was made for my hand, the 220 has the point too low and i don't like the way the 229/229's feel at all..

I don't own one, but I like the 226. Lately I have been looking at the Sig Pro.

I vote for my P-225. Only made in 9mm.

"It is 100% German made and one the true "gems" to come out of Sig." said a gunsmith at Sig/Sauer USA. He also told me, "The German gun quality still surpasses that of the Sigs made in the USA."

The P-225 is now commercially available only to law enforcement in Europe. If you can get a hold of one with K-Kote and SigNight Sights...you'll fall in love!

I love my 229 (.357 Sig). I had the slide bead blasted, so now it's a matte stainless finish. I got rid of my 220 because it had the worst trigger of any handgun I've ever had (double action felt like it was 20 pounds!).

The P226 of course - it's the BEST COMBAT pistol in the world!

Jetflyer, I've a notion to pick up a 225 myself - CDNN has them listed at $499 in this month's catalog.  Can you say Merry Christmas?

My favorite?? Well, it would have to be the one that says Sig on the slide.
Sorry I cant choose just one. I usually carry 2 on me. Have to rotate them all around.

To answer a previous question:  H&K took the best of Glock and Sig, and rolled it into one pistol.  Sig has tried to respond with the Sig Pro, but it just hasn't caught on yet.

he
In all I have come up with the following observations:

The old Sig finishes (including the "blackened stainless") just sucked.  Any of the non-stainless guns would get a little scratch, and immediately rust in that area.  I've read that the finishes have been "updated" from when I was issued plain jane 220's and 226's, but I don't know... Incredible shooting guns and all are about the best made (read: machined) in the world.

When I chose to spend my own dollar out of pocket for a (on and off) duty gun:  I chose the 229 in .40 S&W.  A good all around size with a powerhouse round.

After some finish issues with the "blackened stainless" (it's worthless I say!  Get the two-tone if it's going in a holster!), I had Robar cote the whole thing in NP3 (a matte grey teflon finish).  Since then (about 10 years now)I've put countlss rounds through the thing.  The finish looks great still (you do get what you pay for with Robar).

I have a threadded .40 S&W barrel, all the Sig 229 Sport accessories and a .357 Sig conversion barrel.  A set of Hogue rubber grips make it fit like a glove in my hand.  A set of Trijicon sights and a LazerMax internal laser (repacing hte guide rod) round out the package.  Last but not least a modified (to fit the .40 S&W) Knights supressor for, well... whatever.  It's just a great gun.

I've seen posts about the 9mm barrels availible, but I can't figure out how the breech face would match up correctly.  If anyone has any specific info in this, please send it to me.

1st - P225, mine's getting close to 20 years old now (not on poll)
2nd - P245, a lot of power in a fairly small package (not on poll)
3rd - P226, was my duty gun for several years

Sig 226 equipped with $239 Crimsontrace lasergrips. very way cool. activation trigger is in perfect place for middlefinger to turn it on.

dont like the lasermax type system. do you really want to have to reach beyond the trigger to the takedown lever and flip a switch to turn it on? besides with the lasergrip i can shut the laser off in a instant to hide.
