That's what we are buying as an agency. Well those and 34s for SWAT.

I like my 47 a lot and appreciate that is has the same recoil spring assy as my G19.  Not into swapping them around though.

Interchangeability with the 19 gen 5.

You can swap slides and frames between the two to get any combo you want.

@bnielsonak47

What is the thought process behind giving SWAT the G34?

Are they after velocity or sight radius?
Are they running a red dot?

We are switching to the 47 with an Acro P2 and TLR1 HL

Can't have a Special Weapons And Tactics team if you give them regular weapons.

A 34 does literally nothing a 47 can't do except take up more space. Whatever the slight velocity difference may be means nothing when talking about 9mm terminal performance.

One of my local PD's just switched to 47's with a factory cut to direct mount a P2 which in my opinion is about the best option going for a normal PD duty gun.

I have a had 47 with 509 for awhile and its been fine. I have a 19.5 top end with PMM comp and its cool to be able to swap that back and forth depending on my mood.

The G47 MOS will replace the G17 Gen5 MOS, while the G17 Gen5 (non-MOS) will still remain in the Gen5 lineup.

They should just drop the 17 completely at this point. Had they called the 47 the 17G for government or 17BP for Border Protection probably nobody would have even noticed that the old style 17 had been discontinued.

They will lose Fudd sales if they do that.

Glock isn't stupid.
They only recently got Fudds to accept polymer frame pistols like 16 years ago. Some of those Fudds only buy full-size service pistols. Fudds are a huge market share, and they don't "notice" things until they cannot get what they've previously been purchasing.

The recoil is reduced in the 34.  it's noticeable between my G17 and G34.

I agree with that.  My Gen 5 G34 is the smoothest shooting of all my Glocks.

It’s all opinion, of course, but the 34/35 is the most obsolete Glock, which is surprising, considering that they were the hot ticket 15-20 years ago. They are nose heavy and, especially with RDOs, don’t do anything to justify the size difference.

I like the 47. But, for me, the 19x/45 is the sweet spot.

ZEV is, if I understand the OZ stuff correctly, making both 17 and 34 length slides for the 19 length dust cover. I'm not sure here but I believe these all use the 19 length recoil spring. Glock could easily enough make a 47L that would be essentially the 34.

@naes

Was decided way before my time. Even when the agency was blasting Glock 22s swat had 35s. But as someone else stated I bet it was just to give the swat bro’s something special.

We’re all pretty much sporting red dots, even jail deputies are starting to get mos 47s.

I’ve been thinking about picking up a 47. I own every other 9mm Glock and even multiple copies of many of them. 19X and 45 are my favorites by far.

ETA: Does it shoot pretty much like a 17?

Yes, it is. I like it. I switched out the frame on the Hyper-Comp Compact to the same on used on the Elite Standard. Super simple to do.

Did 2 things the first week I had my 47.
1. Sent the top end to Monsoon Tactical for the Lucky 7 ports.
2. Traded the 47 frame for 19.5 frame.

The 19L set up is my favorite. Wish Glock would make that as a factory option.

I’ve got a 19 w the L7’s and really like it. Kind of knew what to expect. I’ll probably get in the queue to send another top end I have off for the Chunk port during their Black Friday sale.

Would it kill Glock to sell new and unserialized slides and barrels that can be used with 19 and 45 frames?

A company who was revolutionary four decades ago is stuck in it's ways in giving the customers what they want.

That leaves you with the aftermarket, or buying two guns and selling the parts you don't want.

Just picked up a 47 today. Yeah I think the 19L is fucking awesome. Threw the 19 slide on the 47 frame for a spare 45. Doubt I’ll be changing it back.

That doesn't seem right.  The G47 is full size frame, so you get a G45 or G17.  The grip doesn't reduce for G19 and the G19L is the same slide size as the G17.

You have to have a G47 and a G19 to do all that.

G19 is just the G19
G19L is the G19 frame with the 47 slide.
G47 is the same as the G17 essentially.
G45 is the G47 frame with the G19 slide.

I understand what the configs are, but the other poster was asking about the merits of the G47.  None of that matters if you don't have a G19 as well.

Yeah, nothing great about a G47 except you get to toss all your G17 RSAs and buy new ones

The "greatness" is the ability to merge with a Gen5 G19 to make a G19L and a G45.

If you're a poor like me, you could do it with a PSA Dagger compact with a Dagger S frame and the Compact X slide assembly

How's the recoil impulse compare between a 47 and Gen 5 17?

Does the G19 RSA make the 47 noticeably different than the 17?
