.45 ACP bullets are indeed too lightly constructed to perform well at Winmag velocities.
The bulk Winchester 230 grain JHPs hold up well enough to make good varmint bullets. Tremendous expansion, but penetration is lacking.
I used to load the Sierra 240 grain bullet, it did well, but some times mangled itself on the feed ramp.
Lee used to make a 230 grain hollow point mould. I never tried it on anything other than water and wet newspaper, but it did seem to perform well there. It would mushroom, but hold together and penetrate.
That mould is now out of print, and my mould seems to have disappeared.
