My vote would be for the Para Carry, although anything bigger than a P3AT isn't a "pocket gun", IMHO (including my 2" snub .38).

For me the Kel Tec P-11 in a sidekick fits the pockets of almost any pair of pants, jeans or shorts I wear. That's why I am using it as the standard.

use the p-11 with some 124gr +p gdhp's and you are getting the best performance out of a small package you can, only the kahw will come close you are fine, never thing the 9mm won't be enough. great bullet design has seriously improved the 9 to a great defensive pistol txl |

Man that Kahr PM40 is tempting it's actually smaller than the Kel Tec and only weighs 1 oz more empty...probably less with a full mag. Thanks guys.

Err.... could be rabbit, could be. But I've got 4 contenders so far that match my needs Kahr MK 40, Kahr PM 40, Cobra Patriot 45, Para Carry 3". This does not include any of the major caliber wheel guns like the Charter Bulldog, Smiths or Tauruses (Taurusi?). What I am expecting to find is that shorter barrel and sight radius mean greater felt recoil and less practical range (meaing both accuracy and "stopping power"). That's OK. I am looking for a defensive firearm that I can always carry that has good one shot "stopping power" and decent accuracy at 10' or less. |

PM9 with Ra9T carries perfectly ina pocket for me, and I am confident with it. With .40 you give up one round, but should still carry well.

If you are not opposed to wheel guns the SP101 is a fine choice. Mine actually fits in my pocket.
It is solid and seemingly well built. Accuracy seems fine for a short barrel. |

Assuming I can find where the gun flew when it ripped out of my hand during the shooting of the first BG. Thanks for the advice. I understand that they also make .45 -70 derringers. Please buy one, shot often and think of me. The idea is "good one shot stopping power" nothings perfect. |

How about a S&W 340. VERY lightweight .357 magnum that definitely meets your criteria. Get Crimson Trace laser grips and this gun is very comfortable in pocket and is very easy to hit with at ranges relevant for self defense. Hurts like hell to shoot it in practice, but for LIGHTWEIGHT AND POWERFUL pocket gun, its in a class by itself.

OOPS...went back and read your post where you specify porting. 340 can't be ported, and you wouldn't want to do it if you could....still could go with model 60, and could have it ported, but again, I wouldn't want to port one myself....if you find a small, lightweight, but major caliber gun that can be carried in your front pocket comfortably and is comfortable to shoot, let us know...I don't think that exists.

That Kahr .45 looks pretty good as a CCW...still question whether thats a comfortable gun to carry in a front pocket though. The current 9mm Kahrs can be carried in front pocket of SOME clothes, but in my opinion are just a little too big for all day, every day carry in front pocket of many types of pants. I know it can be done, but its really not all that practical for FRONT POCKET carry (although great for CCW by other means).

Get a Kel-Tec P40.
Same frame as a P11. Only thing different is the slide and barrel, and that is very slight. I've got one. Great carry piece. It's a bit hard on your hand though....great for a CCW/self defense weapon, but not something you're gonna want to shoot several hundred rounds at a pop. I might also suggest getting the extended mag floorplates for the Kel-Tec. Greatly increases gripping ability.

yup, MiniFirestorm. Only fuck up so far was a trigger spring. It still fired but you had to push the trigger forward to shoot the next round. I E-mailed Bersa's distributor and told them the problem and they sent me a couple of the springs for free. If the spring does fail again I will dump the gun but it has been accurate and never jammed on me. |

If ya would consider a revolver then I would suggest one of the many .357 mag snubbies out there. I do believe there is porting available for them. I would also suggest it be a concealed hammer DAO type. No fuss, no muss, just draw and pull trigger.

Currently I am leaning towards a Kahr (either the PM 40 or the MK 40) or a Taurus CIA .357 Snubbie DAO ported. The Taurus is the one that has the hump back enclosed hammer, like the old lemon squeezer. I have shot quite a few 2" revolvers so I think I know what I'm getting into with the snubbie.
Anyone out there have experience with the Kahr PM40 and MK40? If so how much difference does the extra weight (10 oz or so) make in the handling of the MK vs. the PM? Thanks again to everyone who has suggested .410 / .357 /44 Mag /.45-70 caliber derringers, etc but I asked for help finding a gun with a 5 shot minimum. Ya'll shoot go them little devils and think of me. |

S&W 340PD with a clip draw. Not as small as a kel tec, but you get the .357mag power. At 12oz, you can easily carry it in sweat pants or in the front pocket.

I only have handleing experience between the two Kahrs mentioned above so take this with a grain of salt: I personally prefered the PM becuase of the weight. The ten-ounce difference is huge when you hold them one after the other.
