Eh... Small worm like apparition,(no worries, just get it quickly) it feeds off your address book OE/Outlook (*.pdb) and sends itself out to each entry you have. If you opt to not get AV software from me.. (Which I would never give you) goto http://tucows.fiber.net/system/virus95.html and select one. I can't reccommend until I know your OP system. IM me and I will not send you a good [to be un-named(shareware)] virus scanner. Btw.. what OS you on? [So I know not to send you a commercial virus scanner..][:D] Read it and weep federales! hehehehe

Some viruses/worms use a technique known as “spoofing”, where they pull an address from an infected computer for the ‘from’ line when they send out copies of themselves. If you occasionally get returns, this is probably the reason. BADSEED is right---get anti-virus software NOW and keep it’s definitions current. Here are a couple of articles on spoofing: http://www.wired.com/news/print/0,1294,52174,00.html http://www.computerbits.com/archive/2002/0600/bridges0206.html

Can't you just give out an address (Exam. www.free-av.com) for the software he needs?

http://housecall.antivirus.com/ Give me a minute to find the NAV one but this should do the job... EDIT: Not sure where to look on Nortons, but like I said, the above link should do the job.

The biggest culprit in all of these damn virus', is Microsoft Outlook... If you have a real email program like Eudora, you will not have to worry about infecting others. I have received over 100 infected emails from the same person today, so I of course contacted the offending ISP and reported it to their abuse department. If any of you have an email addy of "greytjake@cfl.rr.com", then I am sorry for having your account nuked, but I cannot be the only person that has received all of these infected emails from you! I put a re-direct into my system, that forwarded all of these emails directly to the tech department of this person's account, that way they would act faster. Hell, I figure that I intentionally sent them somewhere in the neighborhood of 25-30 various bugs today, but it will make them respond in a more timely manner... Besides, their own servers let this crap pass in the first place! [}:D]

Got hit with the Klez virus a few months ago, and before I realized I had it I had infected several others whose responses on this site were part of a thread I'd also sent a note to. At first I couldn't believe I had, or had given, a virus, because I NEVER open attachments. More recently I've learned that there are now email programs that let a sender put in a SELF OPENING attachment. That's probably how I got infected. Any of the commonly available antiviral programs will put a stop to this. Since I installed mine, I've been hit 3 or 4 times, but the program has caught it every time.

Woah woah.. but this was sent from my "yahoo email" account, how can that even have a virus??? I didnt use my personal pop3 account.. which i believe to be clean.. I am almost 150% sure i do not have a virus, The only virus i've ever had is tia-pan which is nearly undetecable as it only adds a few bytes to each file and thats it.. I do not randomly open up emails and never open attachments from them.. Either way i'm using windows XP pro.. I'm highly skepticle of this virus thing.. for one, i've "never" emailed bushmaster so i'm not sure how 'a' virus could pick them out of the blue? But if your saying someone else's infected emailed them and used MY email address becuase they may have emailed me once.. that could make more sense, i've emailed i think 3 or 4 people from here.. could it be possbile they are the ones with the virus?
