If they KNOW he is a RINO why the hell would they endorse him?

He is precieved as electable...

That is his only strong point...

Also, there are a bunch of can-not-win candidates drawing PRIMARY votes off of Fred....

These people will vote for a loser in the primaries (insuring Rudy gets the nomination) and then vote for a loser in the general (insuring President Hillary)....

If we got Ron Paul, Duncan Hunter, Tom Tancredo, and Sam Brownback OUT OF THE RACE...

Rudy would no longer be the front-runner....

It really is a shame there is a difference now

both I guess..

I suspect that for the "opinion-makers" there is some quid pro quo taking place. As for your average Joe Republican, Rudy is the most recognizable and the anchors on Fox News seem to like him...

Fred is just more of the same, even being a hollywood darling won't make up for that.

Sean Hannity loves him because he says he'll appoint strict constructionist judges.

Yeah. That will help a lot after he bans guns, kills unborn children and lets the illegals run the whole show.

The Republican party of today is NOT the Republican party of Barry Goldwater's time!

To put it another way, when you have a lot of unpleasant, kind of strange people with a powerful interest in not changing anything, they would rather that everyone else lose if they stay safe. Think of faculty at a university -- they don't care how bad things get as long at they stay employed and get tenure.

Right now, if Larry "Wide Stance" Craig (R-Closet) were caught in an elementary school bathroom offering a nine year old kid $100 to shove a live woodchuck up Craig's ass, the major concern of the RNC would be spinning this to make it look like a success of Bush's No Child Left Behind Act while quietly trying to get the evangelical weirdos to tell their flocks that Craig was praying really, really hard now so that he would have the willpower to resist the next time he was tempted with the Devil's woodchuck. The fact that it's completely fucking wrong matters not. The pursuit of power is the only end for these people. And it seemed to work, for a while, and so they don't want to let go.

I am not sure if y'all understand that someone who has spent 10 years in DC as a weevil in the machinery of either party is essentially unemployable outside of a very narrow range of activities. If these people lose their jobs they will have to go back to grad school or bag groceries. It is far safer for them to point to their one success in manufacturing a candidate -- Bush -- and to support Rudy and blame Rudy if he fails. That way, they get to keep their jobs no matter what. Someone with actual conservative credentials (i.e., someone NOT like Bush) would fire them all as soon as possible because they are sleazy, amoral people. He wouldn't keep them on as advisors, like Bush did with Rove (a very telling window into Bush's sense of ethics). So, they go go for the safe bet FOR THEM and that is Rudy.

b/c most Republicans are RINO's (elected officials as well as those on the street).

The Republican Party has not yet nominated anyone for President. Most voters aren't even paying attention yet. They have to get through Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's - and then they will start thinking about the primaries.
