At the end of the day, there are people here whom I would fight for over most of the local and Family I have. The "I'm Dying" thread should make us all humble...
It makes me realize what I have now is sacred. |

I had surgery a few weeks back, and haven't been able to get out much since then because I can't drive. Being military I've moved a bunch and am new to my current area, so this has been one of my only ways to interact with people. Even if people here aren't always pleasant its better than watching TV. Thanks arfcom.

I got my last job and my current job only because of this site. I also have learned a ton of info and made great friends I'll have for the rest of my life. I also learned that that most of the world's best special forces snipers are here.

I like the discussion and debate without all the barriers to honesty imposed by real-world relationships. I rarely get to hear heated political or religious or really any kind of debate in the real world.
It's been extremely valuable to me in refining my own positions on things. Also there's a lot of experience and wisdom on almost every subject here. And a lot of genuinely fine human beings, and funny ones too. |

This place has a solid answer for everything. Because it's membership is (generally) people I believe I would respect and get along with in real life, I find a ton of information here that I know is solid -if for nothing more than its coming from like minded people.

I study hard core for 30 minutes until my brain hurts. Then I surf GD for ten minutes to laugh my ass off at the stupidity. Then I repeat the cycle.
Sometimes I also learn cool stuff about new tech in the tech forums, or see cool historical stuff in the retro forum. ETA: This site kept me very entertained in middle school. |
