+eleventybillion A more civilized weapon for a more civilized age. Not as clumsy or random as a blaster. |
+1 Although I also like the gun from the movie "Aliens' M41A Pulse Rifle - fires 10mm explosive tip, caseless (and grenades) NEW POLL |
Jayne's favorite gun from Firefly. I don't remember what he named her.
That was the rifle, right? |
I would like mortal combat SUb Zero power.
Star Trek Phaser for me |
multiplied by infinity The lightsaber is the ultimate "sidearm" I would still take a real Pulse Rifle over it though I think. |
Phaser
when they put that thing on kill, doesn't it completely dissolve the body too? |
All you people wanting the lightsaber would kill yourselves. Your not a Jedi, therefor you will be teh suck with it.
Phase plasma rifle in the 40watt range
Duh. ok, a lightsaber would be cool too |
Yeah, but I bet those wanks on CSI would find some trace... |
I'm with you Ace Han Solo was the man I think I'll go watch star wars now....episode IV...from a long time ago in a galaxy where movies were good |
The only trace they leave behind are things you need. Like say the guy had keys, when you melt him only the keys would remain for you to use hahaha. |
Star Trek Phaser is far superior to all Sci-Fi small arms because of the non lethal stun feature for the ones you love, but most of all when you kill someone the body disappears. No mess to clean up and best of all no evidence!
But the Aliens M41-A has all the cool points, looks and killer sound effects. |
Whatever the hell that meant. |
Phaser would be my choice. The selection that destroys the body is called Disintegrate.
Hell yeah, or most of the rifles Mal's team had |
sez you |
SG-1 Zat Gun.........The same effect as the Phaser......and I like the sound and looks better.
It just takes a few extra shots get there. One hit stuns, two hits kills, three hits vaporizes their ass. |
Right there with you-PK pulse pistol, though the bullpup pulse riflle is cool too. Nick |
....and the mad Jedi skillz to use it. A purple one, like that bad MFkr Mace Windu had would rule!! If a lightsaber doesn't count then I'd choose a M41 Pulse rifle from "Aliens" or Vera from "Firefly". If we include guns from SciFi books or games I'd choose a Gauss rifle (shoulder fired 4mm full auto electromagnet gun) or a FGMP (Fusion Gun, Man Portable) from the pen & paper role playing game Traveller. The Ripper & the Redeemer from Unreal Tournament would be fun. |
Veyra.... pretty badass! |
Phazers (atleast the majority of TNG and series thereafter versions) didn't have sights and were completely unergonomic. Dunno how the fak long those guys had to train with those to be able to hit a green headed targ at twenty feet. The tell is that Rodenbury didn't want them to look like guns.
Stormtrooper blaster for me. Incidentally, they also had a stun setting as witnessed when Carrie Fisher gets knocked down and gang raped in A New Hope at the beginning. Aparently it was wide angle too...sounds like a good riot weapon. |
Found this great page poking around...
www.projectrho.com/rocket/rocket3l.html Like the PK pulse pistol and always thought a PPG was pretty cool (kill the bad guy but not punch a hole in the hull in the process). |
PPG, those were the pistol and rifles carried by Babylon 5 security and officers, correct? Visually seemed to work like those wierd concussion guns the FBI guys used in Minority Report. |
I th ink on one episode that was an 'illegal' phaser The zat gun is supposedly three different options - one, stun, two shots, kill, three shots, get rid of the body. |
sidearm, schmidearm.
I want one of those turret anti-(air?)(space?)craft emplacements from the death star for my roof. Heck, why not just the death star Main Battery Weapon? Ha Ha, I'll zap your whole planet, and your little dog, too. |
Letting my nerdom show. Several episodes of both the original series and TNG showed Starfleet personel vaporizing people and aliens without doing anything more than dialing it up. The 'disruptor' was either a Klingon or Cardassian weapon that was illegal in the Federation. Seem to recall a DS9 episode were they pointed this out. Quark might have been moving them through the station. |

That was the one that made me think of the poll, but since farscape isn't as well known I kept it to the three most popular. |
So Solos isnt a red 9? Well since its heavy I bet it shoot .45 lasers. |
I know. I tried hinting at that earlier, but people just kept listing rifles. |
