my understanding is that there are some older ar-7s that are much better than others. and that there are some to stay away from. can someone fill me in on the details? -thanks

Bagger, look around and find one of the old ArmaLite AR-7's and you'll be fine. After all it was ArmaLite that designed this fine little rifle.

the MOST desirable one would be that one that James Bond used to knock down that helicopter (From Russia With Love?). Now that's serious knockdown power.

Phrase to avoid: thermoplastic barrel. If you buy one, add in the price of a barrel which will not bear permanent scars from hot brass that has jammed between the bolt and the breech end of the barrel.
