Go to a little store. Not Plaid Pantry or 7/11.

Just curious, why a switchblade in a BOB? I would think a small fixed blade would be more usable or even a modern folder.

You're really not giving us much to go on.

"cheap" is pretty subjective. "Old school" could mean a lot of things"

Well, I'm glad that's settled.

FWIW, I have a couple of Italian stilettos. They are, hands down, my favorite front pocket "letter opening, nail cleaning" knives. There's something about the weight, the balance and a half a foot of steel coming out with a "twack."

Meh, I throw my Italians, too. After I saw Se7en, I got a dart board just for my stilettos

I'm 40 fucking years old and I do it anyway.

All of those knives in your links are junk and will fail and cut you open! I'm a knife maker and know my stuff. If you want a lot of cheap knives to have to hand out look at Sanrenmu knives on ebay. They are as good as Spyderco and Benchamde as they are the licensed manufacturer for those companies when their knives are made over seas. I have about 20 of them and all of them are rock solid top quality and they cost any where from $9-15!!! Trust me when I say they are top quality because I own and purchase and make $500 custom pocket knives. Sanrenmu knives are awesome!!!!

They don't appear to offer a cheap stiletto, though.

If you're looking for compact barter goods, buy a fuck-ton of pipe tobacco and small mason jars. You'll get a much higher SHTF return on your money, especially if you go buy resale value for weight.

ETA: pipe tobacco also has more practical use than some shitty-quality knives. Anti-parasitic properties (for intestinal parasites) being a big one.

I thought all of the old switchblades like that were cheap junk.  Does anyone make good quality knives like that?

Like most things, they can be junk or they can be handcrafted artisan works of art. Guys like Frank Beltrame and Angelo Campolin make some of the most beautiful and well crafted pieces around. Chinese companies make knock offs for 12 bucks.

As with most knives, you get what you pay for.
