M1A works fine with factory 10rd but once in a while it will cause the bolt to lock back on a loaded magazine, the mag is a USGI mag with a fresh spring...

any help?

its a pretty new rifle and it only does it with my Only 20 rd mag...

Try disassembling the magazine and turning the spring around. Who knows, maybe it's in there backwards.

Do you have snap-caps? If you do, try doing it slowly and see what the cause is. Then report back... I'm interested.

Oh yeah- there have been supposedly surplus mags that came that way, and I've read that when taking mags apart to clean or Teflon the inside, to ensure the mag spring is in the correct way. (This goes for most all mags I can think of where the mag spring isn't attached to the follower in a semi-permanent fashion)

Now, offhand- I couldn't tell you which way the correct way is, but I'm sure the M14 forum here or the two other good M14 forums (the one at Amback and M14forum.com <--- I think that's the URL) would tell you more. Not sure, but perhaps there might even be a mag disassembly tutorial at one of them...
