have a DPMS 20in A2 HBAR 1:9 twist chromoly barreled rifle that I've had since 2009.

I'm currently debating doing one of two things with it:

rebarreling it with a Windham 1:7 Chrome lined Gov't profile barrel

sending it to ADCO and having it re-profiled to a Gov't profile

Rebarrel and turn it into an M16a2 clone

If you shoot lots of heavy (long) bullets then 1:7 might be nice.

If you keep your projectiles under 77gr you don't gain anything with the tighter twist.

Is re-profiling cheaper than a new barrel?

Shop around, barrels are everywhere in every profile and twist combo, and prices are back to "normal"

I would rebarrel it, and then keep the old barrel as a spare.

If it shoots well, why do anything with it?  Compared to an M1 or M14 rifle, it's still on the lighter side.

This.

What do you seek to gain by changing the barrel, other than spending money.  Not that burning money for fun is a bad thing, but it would be desirable to at least have some purpose in mind...

If it were my parts, I would buy a 14.7" chrome lined lightweight pencil bbl, with pinned A2 flashhider, build a lightweight carbine, sell the crow bar barrel, rifle handguards, etc.
.

If I get a sudden need for a 20 inch barrel, It is .308 caliber, AR10

Just so you know, ADCO's "government profile" is not the government profile you normally see.

I'm not complaining about ADCO in any way, ADCO has done GREAT work for me many times, but one should be aware that the way they profile for the "gov profile" is visually different.
