hi all

i was thinking about getting into some benchrest competition.  a lot of people at the range swear that i should get into it.  so i sat down at the range today and really tried to get a good group.  well i got a group of 7 @ 100 yrds in about 1/2 the size of a dime.  in benchrest competition, what is the average group size and the average winning size?

A total of 5 groups are fired in a typical Benchrest match.  Winning aggregate scores are commonly in the 2’s (less than 0.3 inches), with individual groups in the 1’s now common, and individual groups in the zero’s (less than 0.1 inches) becoming more common.

The world record for a 5 shot group at 100 yards is currently 0.052” for Heavy Varmint and 0.054” for Light Varmint.
