keep seeing the commercials on tv, whats the story.
That organization is not a front like the PETA freaks. It actually does benefit animals.
Still advise donating to local no-kill shelter, though.
I know somebody who was trying to get into Veterinary School, so she volunteered at an ASPCA shelter for a full year.
Most animals, even young healthy cats and dogs, brought to the 'shelter', get euthanized in 24 hours.
On most days, they would take in 50 to 75 cats and dogs...but only adopt out a few.
Kittens and puppies are the most commonly adopted from the 'shelter'....but during the 2 big 'kitten seasons' (spring and mid to late summer) the 'shelter' would get 6 to 12 full litters of 4 to 6 kittens, every day.
So about 90% of them are euthanized within a few hours of being dropped off.
The same thing with litters of puppies: they keep a few puppies per day, equal to what is adopted, and the other 90% are euthanized, the same day.
When you drop off your beloved pet at the ASPCA, they NEVER tell you that your cat or dog has about a 10% chance of living to be adopted.
Instead, they try to guilt you into making a 'donation' to the ASPCA to 'help take care of the cats and dogs'.
Really, you are paying them to euthanize your own cat or dog....but they don't tell you that.
