Im having a damn PC issue where it wants to run chkdisk on reboot.... New hardware, have installed on both HDD's and same thing. Will work perfectly fine for awhile then bam... chkdisk.. I cant narrow this down to a program doing it, so maybe I can just turn the damn thing off?

You look in your startup tasks ?

Start / Run /  type msconfig  <enter>    under "startup"   (I know, duhh..... Some ppl are blind, tho)

See if it's set there to execute on boot.  Unlikely, but you never know......

How old is the hard drive ?   Maybe it's bout to take a shit on you ?

Might be a warning you wanna heed

On XP you can run    chkntfs      from a command prompt before you reboot.  It will tell you if the disk is marked as dirty.  You can use the /x option to override the check, but the disk is probably getting flagged for a reason.

Rename the chkdsk files to _old or something.  Don't forget chkntfs.  In W2K server, there is a registry key to kill the chkdsk.  Not sure about on XP and the registry key escapes me now.

Never mind I just used it 2 days ago to save a cluster server.
