Well from the other two threads running about this (so IBTL) the platforms DID survive much better than the people on shore did.

All the production platforms appear to be there.  20 drilling rigs are missing,  Out of about 600...

Uh, what poor souls abord?

They were evacuated at least 24 hours before they were hit.

All 600 odd rigs... they were all shut down and evacuated.

This oil rig was ripped off it's moorings and hit a bridge going UPSTREAM! I heard it was a Mexican rig, which explains why it's in that predicament.

Yes...

And that article is alittle misleading.  Some of the lost "drilling rigs" were actually un-manned production platforms (we lost one).

Often time with production platforms they don't actually float away, the are blown over and sink, and are found nearby under the water still attached to their sub-floor assemblies.
