Barrel is Colt Mfr. C MP means Colt Magnetic Particle (Tested). Upper, I dunno.
Good barrel for 62gn+ bullets, and long-range shooting. Not so hot for less than 62gn bullets. To avoid breaking the law, DO NOT assemble this barrel to anything other than a Pre-Ban lower that is KNOWN to have left the factory as an assembled rifle. |

Thanks for the reply. Is this a chrome barrel or anything special.
It brings up another question; can one install a pre-ban upper on a self built lower that was made before the ban was put into effect? |

I believe your barrel ought to be chrome-lined, as well as the chamber.
As to your second question, first let me say that I am not an expert, nor a lawyer. My understanding is that a lower that was mfd pre-ban MUST have been ASSEMBLED as a complete rifle in order to legally mount an upper with pre-ban features. IOW, suppose you had a lower that was definitely mfd pre-ban. In a worst-case scenario, you would be asked to PROVE in court that it had been assembled to an upper with pre-ban features PRIOR to the ban. This is a case of guilty until proven innocent, and has happened. Lots of folks have been stuck with pre-ban lowers that they cannot document as having been assembled into pre-ban configuration rifles prior to the ban. I strongly suggest you confirm my statements by going to the Legal Forum on this site, and asking the legal eagles there. Good luck. |

24" preban? Got a birdcage on it? Bayonet lug? |

No. The pre-ban lower must have already been made up into a completed, factory-serialled firearm before the law went into effect in autumn of '94. Otherwise, prove it to the judge. Find a complete pre-'94 gun, and use this upper as a spare, or trade. |

I believe that you really have a 20" barrel. I've never seen a pre-ban Colt 24" with bayo. lug and flash suppressor.
