Ask him where freedom is in this scenerio. Is he actually stating that individual freedom is not desirable, and that the individual is secondary to the state?
Communisim goes against human nature. Competition and the urge to climb the hierarchy is instinctual. Thus, the only way communisim can exist, is by force. Also, don't forget that students are always friendly toward socalisim, as they have nothing to lose at this stage in their lives. |

Anybody that argues for communism has never really read or understood its concept (one based on false assumptions) and has never studied basic history. Communism has never worked.
Communism is a Utopian theory that assumes all people are nice and will unite and share equally (workers unite!) Capitalism assumes people are greedy assholes and gives everyone a chance to advance themselves (gross oversimplification, but true.) Guess which one works? |

The reason Castro is popular in Cuba is because anybody who opposed him is dead or fled the country. Castro is a disease. Economically, he's an idiot, as well.

Communism, to survive, requires a totalitarian domination of the masses to supress some men's desires to produce more and thus have more rewards. It also has to force the lazy to produce, or it will slowly grind to a halt (as it did in the 20th century).
Capitalism harnesses the desires of the productive and rewards them. Liberal Democratic Socialism, tries to combine the two. My Uncle Celly had a little analogy. He said to take two buckets and fill one with fresh cream and the other with manure. While no quantity of cream added to the manure will change its nature, even the tiniest addition of manure to the cream will ruin it. Democrats are that bucket of shit. |

Not to mention, if communism is so good, why has most of the world tried to get out from under it? Even the remainging communist countries (except North Korea) are moving towareds some form of limited market economy.
Now, having said that, I think the Cuba embargo is totally silly. If we're willing to look the other way over's China's abysmal human rights record and deal with them, how can we possibly justify what is in essence a personal vendetta against that old goat Castro? On what grounds? Whatever you come up with, China's done worse, I guarantee it. |
