It's on my 85 Toyota 2WD truck.  Freon leaked out a long time ago, before that the evaporator box was clogged. I removed the belt already that drives it.  This truck already is way past due it's normal life span, it's 20 years old.   Only reason to remove it would be to save weight on the vehicle.  What increase if any will I see in mpg if I remove it?

thanks

Removing the belt probably has a greater impact on the MPG (barely, but some), but if it makes ya feel better, rip it out.  gotta be close to 8 lbs right?

I took out the AC in my 87 charger a couple of years back and it did improve my MPGs by 1-2. I am not sure how much of that was losing the belt and how much was the weight, as it was a light car.
