There was at one time, but no longer.
The first was American Firearms in Commerce City CO. They made an upper in 50 AE The second was BOHICA, in Sedlia CO. They made complete guns with billet lowers. Both companies vanished in the wake of the 1994 "crime bill". The 50 Beowulf replaced the 50 AE in the AR platform, because it fits in the magazine better. |

Give Ron Williams a call or PM here. Everyone I've seen swears by his work making pistol caliber uppers for AR rifles. Hell, once I get a lower SBR'd he's going to make an upper in .357 mag for me. I'm amazed that he can put out functional DI uppers in pistol calibers.
I don't know all the details, but to keep from needing a magwell he sleeves DE mags into USGI bodies. I can't wait to get a 10.5" .357 upper and throw a can on it.
