Seems to be a lot mor "tactical" stuff made for the 870. I should know. I have a stinkin' Mossberg.

i got my girlfriend to buy me a gun for my birthday and i didnt want her to go crazy with money so i figured these two would be the best.

The 1300 uses an alloy receiver, the 870 a steel receiver, and the 590 A-1 a very heavy steel receiver.
I chose the 590 A-1, everytime I pick this gun up I think about the 1300 I wish I would have got.

My remington 870 was a total POS, got tired of having shells hang up in the chamber so I traded it for an Ithaca Model 37 and has been THE most reliable best shotgun I have ever owned.

My choice is Win. over Rem.
I can shoot the 1200 I have faster than my 870. but that's just me |

they both rule for sticking under the bed. go with the cheaper one.

If you get a 590A1 it doesn't need any "tactical stuff"--it comes with it--and for a lot less. <shrug> |

I love my 1300 action. It's very sturdy and has always been a hell of a gun. It's never broke on me and it's never jammed, while I have had 870 parts break and jam, even when both have been treated the same. That's why I still have the 1300 and no longer have 870's.
Have people had the opposite experience? Yes. However I have a good gun and it's never done me wrong. I'm sure either one will do you good. Can't go wrong with a good pump! |

Shotgun and tactical should not be thought of in in the same sentence!!! Shotguns are for hunting birds!!! Anything you can do with a shotgun in a tactical situation can (and will be done better)with a rifle or carbine with the right rounds!!! Bob
