well..what i talkin about is how stuff penetrates in the real world...not ballistics gel..lets say for instance you had a intruder in your home and they were hiding behind a hardwood table in your klitchen,if you lite it up the table would one or all calibers have enough punch to penetrate the table and the intruder?and if so ,would there be enough energy left to stop the person?i have never been fortunate enough to be able to go out and just shoot anything other than paper and deer so i dont really know what to expect..i realize it sounds dumb but im sure someone on here has real world experience with this.
Hell if I know. Hollow point bullets are designed for flesh. FMJ penetrate other medias better. My brother was told during the academy that the Texas Highway Patrol chose the 356 sig due to its performance after penetrating a windshield.
You have to decide what you want to shoot through. I do not plan on shooting through something I can not see through. Shooting hardwood tables at an angle seems like a good way to shoot something you did not intend to in the first place. If some one comes into my house, I am not picking up a pistol or one of my rifles first, I am going for the 12 gauge right off the bat. I have them loaded with Winchester PDX 12. There is not much a 1oz slug will not penetrate.
