Bugei doesn't make swords. They market Chen Pao (Paul Chen) swords.
The Paul Chen swords are "authentic" in manufacture, at least, the upper models are. They're
made in the traditional manner using modern steel technologies, and they are entirely suitable
for actual combat....not that you really want to get into that.
They're not replicas. They're real. They're combat ready. That's a very big difference vs. show replicas.
I own one of theirs, the Paul Chen "Blue Orchid" model katana.
When I got it, it was NOT sharp. But I have the correct Japanese sword polishing stones,
have an idea of how to use them, and resharpened (repolished is the correct term) the new sword
right away. It is in full polish now and is sharp enough to cut paper hung by a thread with ease,
which still requires proper technique. My sensei approves. (I take Iaido, the art of drawing and
cutting with the sword. A "no sparring" martial art, as 100 percent of our practice is with live (fully sharpened, and authentic) blades.
