never met the guy.

he's one of my best friends from HSs brother in law.  he's with the 1st cav over in baghdad.  friday he was hit with an IED and suffered some pretty serious wounds.

i can't find anything on the internet, all i know is what was reported on the local news and what the family has been told.  they don't know how bad but they do know he suffered at least a broken leg and pelvis including facial wounds.  he is currently in germany getting medical attention

we do know he's alive and that he's at least in stable condition but really nothing else.  i've never met him, you've never met him, but prayers from all of us couldnt hurt a damn thing, so if yall would......................

i will look on the local news websites for more info................thanks in advance

Iraq bombing injures city native
By Sara Lee Fernandez Caller-Times
September 21, 2004

A 30-year-old Corpus Christi native was injured in a car bombing in Samarra, Iraq, on Saturday, KRIS 6 News reported.

His family said he is in serious but stable condition in a hospital in Germany.

Army Staff Sgt. Jarrett Jongema, a graduate of Ray High School, took multiple pieces of shrapnel in the chest, broke his left leg and had facial wounds, said his father Ronnie Jongema of Corpus Christi.

"They medevaced him out of Iraq," Jongema said. "He's still in Germany right now but maybe on Thursday or Friday he will be moved (to the states)."

A car exploded at a U.S. and Iraqi checkpoint, killing two Iraqis and wounding three other Americans.

Jongema said early medical reports of his son's injuries were disturbing. He said first reports had his son with a broken leg and pelvis, internal bleeding and much more serious wounds.

"They had to give him 12 units of blood and four units of plasma," he said.

Jarrett Jongema is one of five children and joined the Army 11 years ago. He is part of the 1st Cavalry based at Fort Hood in Killeen.

I think information on the wounded ones, and even the fatalities, is wayyy under-reported..probably on purpose. Hope he recovers though.

If he was stable enough to be medevaced out of country, hopefully that's in itself a good sign!   Here's hoping that he will have no permanent damage or impairement, and will be with his loved ones soon.

Gladly. I pray that The Lord will be with his family in the coming days as they deal with the uncertainty, and I pray that this young man (and all of the rest of our troops) will find his way safely home to his family.

If this offends anyone, I apologize in advance, but I learned it from a vet so I thought it patricularly appropriate:

Yea though I walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death, I will fear no evil, for I am the Meanest SOB in the Valley.

I will pray hardily for the SSG

I'm really pulling for the guy to have a speedy recovery. Hopefully once healed, he'll be good as new again. My prayers are with his family and friends.

I am getting so sick of good men like this being injured and killed by a bunch of coward terrorists and their roadside bombs and car bombs.
