I recently got 2 emails like this:

[email protected]      to [my mailbox]

Content-Type: text/plain;
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit

arms

The other one was from a different address and had the word "learned" instead of "arms." There were no attachments. This is on GMail. I reported them as spam.

Any [serious, please] ideas on what's going on?

ETA: subject line on this one was "dirty." subject line on the other was "remained." The messages were short enough that I copied this from the subject (GMail puts part of the message in the subject line, if it can) instead of opening them.
