That's just damn sad that your view of the market is as such.

I play WoW. I found that funny. I can afford a Toyota truck. See the connection?

I found that funny as heck. How much gold is that mount?
Link Posted: 10/23/2007 7:54:06 PM EDT
well, it's different for sure. I've always associated pickup truck commercials with cowboys, country music, and hauling heavy construction supplies.

I've never played WoW and I think it's an awesome commercial.

I play from time to time. Hard to get to w/ the kids and 2 jobs and all

Its somewhat based on the Leroy Jenkins incident. Dont think it's him though.

that is based purely on leeroy jenkins.

That's odd.

I don't think many children are buying trucks, yet they're marketing to children.

?

Leeroy jekins...the guy who ruined a 20 player v/s 100 computer monsters encounter, by going to get a chicken dinner while the group planed out how they were going to attack...Leeroy comes back, Yells his name and runs at the monsters...thereby completely screwing up the whole plan...and getting everyone killed. At the end when they are all yelling at him for getting them killed he replys, "at least I have chicken"

this was a joke ofcourse and made it to be a Jeoperdy question?

How is this based on that? Is there another Leeroy Jekins stunt I havent seen? I know there are more....

I know of lots of kids that play video games, but I don't know any adults who do.

Of course, I was surprised by the peopl around here into furries...

The 2005+ Tacos have weak tailgates- you can feel it flex when you stand on it. I wouldn't load my motorcycle in the back of mine without plywood on the gate. There is a TSB out, but Toyota won't fix it until you bend it- makes sense huh?

My exgf fell in love with that game.

It must be worse than crack because it's destroying her... She used to have a nice body, sexy, but now she is a 2ton-tilly.

Ban WoW for the hot ex's!

The average player of video games is 33 years old.

The average PC game player is a bit higher (35 I think).

I can say there are quite a few infantry soldiers who play that game. I think its like crack and forces you to "live" the life in the game instead of your own. I hate MMOs, but there is no denying the demographics for that game probably covers every conceivable type of person you could think of.

I actually know of people who are in their 60s and 70s who play the game. Wife and I played for many months and then got bored with it. Also we added up how much time we spent playing and it was pretty enlightening (and scary).

But the commercial is just hilarious and we both immediately looked at each other afterwards and said, "LEEEEEEEEEEROY JENKINS!"

Many people do not realize how big the gaming market is now.

Here's a few facts I just pulled up for you:

PC Gamers:
Thirty percent of most frequent game players are under eighteen years old.
Twenty-six percent of most frequent game players are between 18 and 35 years old.
Forty-four percent of most frequent game players are over 35 years old.

Fox News: U.S. retail sales of video game hardware, software and accessories hit a record $10.5 billion in 2005 as strong demand from portable gaming gadgets offset weakness in console players, the NPD Group research firm reported Friday.

Another source: It turns out the age of the average gamer is 33 years old. 31 percent of gamers are under 18, 44 percent are between the ages of 18 and 49, and a surprising 25 percent are over 50! The average adult gamer has been playing computer or video games for 12 years.

It's the Atari/Nintendo generation - we grew up having game consoles in the home, and we never lost our love for them.

Now we're all mid-thirties/late twenties, and have decent jobs.

This all equates to lots of discretionary spending going towards games and game systems.
