I am more concerned with you son's other activities.

But I don't know him.

I would say no.

You both should get Liberty Spikes!
Link Posted: 8/11/2005 5:50:55 PM EDT
Let him get it. Some harmless things as that can be good for development. I mean he is a good kid that's focused on his school work.

I say Hell Yeah, I wanted a Mohawk when I was either 6, 7, or 8, and my Dad took me to get one without telling my Mother, wow, was she surprised or what! I also had the most fun with it, and since it was during the summer, my hardass teachers at North Hill Christain School in Vallejo, CA, couldnt do a damned thing about it, even though they saw me multiple times with it
Link Posted: 8/11/2005 5:54:04 PM EDT
There was this kid in 2nd grade who got a Mohawk. His name was Jason. He got a girlfriend because of it and I was jealous.

If it were my kid, no.

Link Posted: 8/11/2005 5:54:06 PM EDT
Hell yes!

I wanted one when I was that age.....parents wouldn't let me. So of course I'm going to say you should let him.

'Hawks are fuggin' awesome.......DO IT.....and cut one for yourself too!

We need a mohawk smiley (a Travis Bickel tribute if you will).

Link Posted: 8/11/2005 5:56:17 PM EDT
Let him do it, it will almost certainly grow back.

Besides, if you say no over something reversible, he won't ask the next time, and it may not be reversible.

No offense intended, but I suspect that's why he quit martial arts. Anyone (of any age) who studies a martial art knows it's not about learning to kick some ass when you feel you've been slighted, it's more about acquiring some discipline in your life. The ass kicking skills come later as a result of some serious and disciplined study, although by then, you're probably looking to avoid the conflict.

I'll go out on a limb here and say your son probably needs to try and conform just a tad more. Being a "wild child" at age seven (with a Mohawk) doesn't sound a particularly healthy accomplishment or achievement. My .02.

I am so tired of seeing Mohawks that go from front to back.

If you give him a side to side Mohawk – direct from one ear to the other – I will happily say Go Ahead with his plan!

If he wants to be different, get a different Mohawk!

How are his grades?
How does he do in school?
Is he a good kid?
Does he deserve a reward like this?

READ THE THREAD.

HE STATED THIS MULTIPLE TIMES.
Link Posted: 8/11/2005 6:15:16 PM EDT
shave his head except for a tuff of hair in the front, Anglo-Saxon army style, now that would be cool. Btw, all you people who say no, he is seven; when I was seven I wanted a mohawk as well, whats wrong with it?

he quit martial arts , because his group wasn't challenging him anymore........

He has been in 1 altercation....he wasn't just slighted..........something was stolen form his brother...

My boys are some of the best behaved around.......their school records show it.

conform?

7 year olds dont know that martial arts is about gaining disipline in your life, they just think that it is fun

By "wild Child' I meant that he like to try new things and is fearful of just about nuthing. He is a good kid. he is the one who jumps off the high dive when others tremble

I wont apologize for teaching them to stand up for what is right.......................

It makes me feel all warm that you are concerned for his well being........WTF?!?!?
Link Posted: 8/11/2005 6:16:50 PM EDT
I'd say let him do it. He's either gonna get tired of it, and go back to a regular haircut, or he'll get laughes out of it. My son and I both had the mohawk a couple years ago, and he got tired of it faster than I did. Then again, there is always door number three, where he whips everyone's ass who laughs at him.

This is kind of what I was thinking..............he has sense enough to not try and whip everyones ass.

Yeah. About a month ago I had a mohawk. Nothing drastic, just a 1/4" difference between the middle and sides. I loved it, but shaved it off so I can shave my hair into a different style mohawk
Link Posted: 8/11/2005 6:35:49 PM EDT
So many wet blankets here. You're only a kid once. Let him have his fun.
Link Posted: 8/11/2005 6:37:41 PM EDT
Hawks kick ass. He's just a kid, and hell, if and when he gets tired of it, just shave it off, start anew. No harm, no foul.

it is a done deal, made up my mind..if that is what he wants

My kid's 9 and wanted a mohawk. Brought him out back and cut it myself. About a month and a half before the end of summer (long enough to repair the damage before school starts). I made it a point to daily point and laugh at him when i saw his haircut. I brought him to a gunshow looking like that. The old timers gave him a hard time.
