awesome!, talked to my mom tonight and she said she has decided that i am responsible enough to have a pistol, she has a ccw so all i need now is $$$$$.. tough part is i just started back up at college and have no $$$$ could sell some parts of my ar to get it but i dunno. anyway what do you guys think would be a good starter pistol for me. i was shooting for a 1911 or glock!

Gun is very affordable ammo is very affordable. recoil low,,,,,gun is very accurate and reliable.

You need to be 21 to own a pistol.
If your Mom buys it for you knowing it will be yours It might be considered a "straw purchase" , maybe?

depends on the state laws in MI you have to be 21 to buy a handgun from a dealer, but only 18 for a private sale.

In your current situation, follow two simple rules:

1) Get a good quality gun.

2) Get a caliber with cheap ammo.

1. Your mom is cool
2. You said you were shooting for a 1911 or Glock. As this is your first, I recommend the Glock. Practice your handgun skills, then go for a nice 1911. The Glock is the reliable utility pistol that won't fail you, the 1911 is the pistolman's pistol.

first gun i get when i turn 2-1 in oct

already got the mags and ammo for it......

if money is that tight, a G19 would fit the bill for a cheap, reliable HG--police trade ins are for ~$360 or so....(my second gun in nov, already got mags and ammo for that too

)

if not, G21 or G30 (higher ammo prices, but what the hell.....) my 3rd gun

got the mags and ammo for that too.....

now its holsters....

I convinced my dad to buy the first few pistols we now own, but not for my affection. After that, he makes me pay for all firearms. Good to see you buying it (theoretically) yourself.
