Eliminating the obvious choice who in your opinion was the worst president of the last 60 years?

I think Ill take Jimmy Carter on that one with Dick Nixon being a close second.

Carter then LBJ
Link Posted: 9/7/2010 3:53:27 AM EST
LBJ gave us his wondrous "Great Society", so I think his damage is more long-lasting than Carter's.
Link Posted: 9/7/2010 3:55:08 AM EST
Peanut Jimmy and his happy go lucky sidekick Walter were absolutely horrendous.
Willy Jeff takes second place
Nixon at third for the trifecta
Link Posted: 9/7/2010 4:00:39 AM EST
LBJ for sure.

Carter in 2nd place
Link Posted: 9/7/2010 4:02:39 AM EST
Clinton with the media knob gobbling amidst failing policy on damn near everything.
Link Posted: 9/7/2010 4:06:59 AM EST
Domestically, LBJ.

Internationally Carter.

Then again, I honestly think in 10-20 years, George W. Bush will be remembered as a pretty good President. People just aren't over being so angry as to see how unreasonable said anger is yet.

I think Iraq was the only bad decision he made. Now I think his vp choice is another matter. There is a reason his first name was Dick.

1st Carter
2nd LBJ
3rd FDR

They all suck.

If I really had to pick one it'd be a a tie between Reagan and LBJ.

Just out of curiousity, why Reagan? I still don't understand how he reacted to Beiruit, but Im curious as to your reasons.

Carter:
Was such a push over on middle eastern policy that you can probably blame him for most of the fucked up mess even today. Then there's federal prison policy changes that turned out the crime wave of the mid to late 80's. Then there's the huge inflation surge that devalued the dollar by 40%. Then there's the SCotUS appointees that totally hosed about ten critical legal issues. Then there's import policy changes that killed half of our manufacturing... and the EPA PO "gifts" that keep on giving.

I kinda recall Ford as being a benign but incompetent twit. Even as a little kid, Carter's shit was easy to spot... He probably hates the U.S. worse than Obama.

ETA: Left out Carter's farm policy, banking policy, defense policy that gutted our military during the worst of the cold war, huge increases in federal welfare money... every damn thing Carter touched turned to shit.
Link Posted: 9/7/2010 4:13:52 AM EST
Carter was the worst, but LBJ did the most damage.

He was a gun grabbing, big government worshipping asshole who turned deficit spending into the national sport.

Great actor, though.

JFK. Spoiled, useless, gangster brat who thought the world was his oyster because he was cute and his daddy was a successful bootlegger. Say hi to Adolph Hitler in hell, Johnny, he's on the bar stool next your daddy. Consider it payback for LBJ.

Reagan signed the '86 MG Ban (FOPA, which for the record did do some good things, too). Check on the Gun Grabbing, I suppose.

If big government spending = big government then check there, too.

Y'all do know that Carter "bought back" his debt with federal reserve money... right?

Thus his inflation numbers.

Bush jr. for one reason:

He had Republican power in all three branches of government and still did not push a Conservative agenda. Thats what happens when you elect a rino( I voted for him twice)

LBJ, no doubt. Carter was more embarrassing, but LBJ did more damage.

I think one has to define the criteria on what one judges to be "the worst".

Economy
Foreign Relations
Personal Behavior
Leadership under fire
Effective Agenda

What else?

Lard Butt Johnson, now the second biggest piece of shit to sit in the White House. Some friends wanted to go to the Lard Butt ranch when they were visiting, it took every inch of my self control not to go piss on the cocksucker's grave.

In this graph it is interesting to note who was running congress (power of the purse) during the various shifts.

Toss up.

LBJ took socialist bullshit from FDR and put it in overdrive, leading to the huge entitlement society we're now about to collapse with.

Carter made us a laughing stock around the world with his foreign policies and was completely inept when it came to economics, a clueless, impotent dolt in a sweater while it crashed down around our ears.

The graph speaks for itself. Voodoo economics indeed. He signed the '86 amnesty, too. He had a Republican senate for half his presidency, so you can't blame the Democrats.

The modern Republican party likes to spend borrowed money. It doesn't object to big government, just to the taxes necessary to pay for it sustainably.

Big government spending does not equal big government.
What speaks for itself is your lack of historical perspective. I'd be willing to bet you weren't of voting age when Reagan was president.

They all look good next to BHO. Seriously, there's no contest.

I'd have to say FDR - particularly for his unsuccessful attempt to pack the SCOTUS. If he didn't have a war to win he would have run this country into the ground.
