I have a Springfield M1 that was made in jan 1941, but the barrel is dated 1953. is this common. how can i tell who makes the barrel or if it is an import. ....and where could i get a barrel made in the 40s. thanks

This is probably an armory upgrade with GI parts. I don't remember for sure where the maker is marked as I am out of the country and can't get my hands on my Garands, but who made it should be right near the date that you see on the barrel.

correction on the barrel. it says" S.A. 11-51 on the barrel. thanks
