The little triangle piece at the top of the handguards that holds them in place is loose, is this normal? Or should it be fixed?

                             THANKS!!

there should be just a little sideways play in it,but if there is any forward rearward motion this is not good. yore gas tube may even be damaged.

if that is this is a recent development. it indicates that the front sight may have moved.

I have noticed in my friend's FN uppers that they are almost always loose right out of the box. The way to fix this is take the handguards off then using a center punch, peen the inside of the cap against the front sight assembly. It will tighten it up and the handguards will not have anymore play.
