Their 9mm ammo at (2100 fps? IIRC) is about like shooting someone with a Mk18 shooting 55gr 5.56 from a 10.5 inch barrel. Except from my M9.

Do I carry with their ammo? No. Would I feel uncomfortable carrying their ammo? Not at all.

ETA because I have a terrible sense of humor.

No penetration with that fragmentation. Gel blocks are made to simulate skin and bone, I doubt this would make it much past the breast plate.

The ballistics gelatin looks way too soft. Pieces of it just fall of when he's pulling the frag out with pliers.

I'd bet on properly made ballistics gelatin it wouldn't even penetrate that far.

Me too.

Except pushed to +p for extra sauciness

Very similar to the Aguila IQ ammo of the late 90's-early 2000's. It was 117gr. alloy slug going around 1600fps, accuracy was mediocre and it suffered from the same shallow penetration issues.

Bottom line....gimmick ammo.
Link Posted: 11/6/2014 1:25:04 AM EDT
Interesting note, when Liberty first introduced this ammo, the had named it Halo Point. The "O" in Halo was big, and had a dot in the center of it. Bungie/Microsuck sued the shit out of them, and they had to change the name.

How does this compare to a regular +P+ hollow point 45 ACP?

And since I have asked the question I have one other I have wanted to ask.
Serious question can a Glock shoot +P+ rounds?

This is about 125gr lighter and has 10 inches less penetration.

It's garbage.

Yes, glocks can shoot +p+, it's right in the manual.

Serious question: "Why would one want to shoot +P+ overpressure loads in a defensive handgun?"
Would you not compromise the weapons reliability, durability, utility, and accuracy for zero effective gain?

Gotcha, I don't own a glock but was always curious. Thanks for the info. I have a box my brother gave me for my USP but have never shot it with +P+ ammo.

Dunno that's why I never shot the ammo. He told me it's great for home defense but it always sits to the side. I haven't come up with any reason to shoot it.

Actually I'm pushing 200 Gr Gold Dots over the maximum listed load. But I backed off when I flattened a primer or 2, and cratered the firing pin indent..some
They are still hot!. I won't say what powder or how much. Don't want someone else blowing up their weapon.
But have been shooting them for years.
I'm using a highly modified 70 series Colt.

Rumor is that it's devastating on Deer. But that's just a rumor.

Oh, I've been reloading for over 30 years now.

I've been using this ammo for over 10yrs. It's excellent ammo & it used to be priced cheap enough to use for training or carry. Nasty stuff--->Winchester .45 ACP 185gr Silver tip JHP

I just did a search for some of it online & saw a few links that claimed it had been discontinued-
Kept searching though & found out that Winchester just changed the labeling on the ammo boxes. Now it's got the Winchester "Super X" on the label. Same ammo- again-lol

Other than the Silvertip in .45 ACP - I tend to stick with the following

Speer Gold Dot 230gr HP
Speer Lawman 185 grain TMJ

Hornady TAP 200gr or 230gr +P JHP (red or black box)
Hornady Critical Defense 185gr HP

Stocked up on Winchester's LEO .45 Ranger SXT 230gr +P JHP years ago, after they stopped making the Black Talon (the .45 ACP / 9mm Ranger & Black Talon ammo took the back shelf many years ago- stored for SHTF or bartering if need be)

I hear the newer Winchester PDX1 .45 ACP Personal Defense is pretty good stuff as well & I have a few hundred rounds, but I haven't had a chance to shoot any of it yet... Any reports on this ammo from folks who've used it?
