I'm no expert but seen a few new ones on EE for a tad cheaper still in wrapped package. No tax but shipping and hasn't been handled by who knows who.

I put one on an AUG A3 to try to duplicate the original donut of death....works nice.  A bit heavy, but with the variable power and illum. reticule..I'm happy...

Probably because this is not a very popular optic so first hand feedback is limited.

yes it would be too much.

i've used a cq/t for 7-8 years.  would much, much prefer an ACOG or 1-6 variable.

Looks like there are not a lot of other first hand accounts...my take (very limited use because I don't get much chsnce to shoot...):

It's a nice clear optic.
It's heavy.
Battery life (by reports..not firsthand) sucks.

For what I wanted it was fine.  If I was putting it on an AR...I'd go with a very good 1-4 (or 1-6) optic.   Illum or not.    I didn't compare to my Leupy VX-R in clarity, but the VX is lighter by almost a half pound...

I loved mine, I called it the crew-served optic (heavy and huge), but it was a solid optic.

agree.  "solid" is exactly the right word for it on multiple levels.  but at that price point, i don't think it compares favorably to the ACOGs that run a few hundred more, or to the short variables that run a few hundred less.

there was never a time when i was shooting and thought "this is the greatest optic ever!"  always wanted more magnification or less, faster acquisition, finer POA, and dear god please a larger eyebox.

but yeah, you could successfully use it to drive tent stakes or bludgeon goats.

Can't disagree, but I liked mine....I got a smoking deal on it, so I felt for the price I paid it didn't have much of an equal for all around carbine use, but I wouldn't pay $8 bills for one....better options nowadays.
