In reanctments, as appropriate. Daily, no. Lanyards were developed for mounted soldiers, who might easily lose grip of their pistol. Nowadays, this situation rarely happens.
The lanyard, in modern times is a situation-specific device, rarely needed. |

Most military units require the use of a lanyard. I know a Corpsmen who had to buy a M9 because while he was on the boat company of MEU. The riggid raider he was on capsized and his pistol went to the bottom.

my school use to require the wearing of id cards on lanyards or clip thingies.

Brad at [url]www.lightfighter.com[/url] can get you a nice one that is coiled like a telephone handset cord, so it doesn't hang down and snag on everything in the AO. It also has a fastex quick-disconnect buckle. I forget the brand, but it is the heat.

Yes, I've seen this device. And although some situations may warrant its use, I can forsee many more instances when using this or similar devices could get you hung up at a critical moment, and killed. Unless situationally demanded, use the KISS principle.

My use for a lanyard is when I camp I put my pistol at my feet in my sleeping bag and have it tied to my wrist so I can pull it up if I need it and it is way out of sight.

Was in Italy 2 months back and every copper used one except the SWAT guys in the Rome airport.
