Thnx for the pics!

Looks like it's striker fired...guess they tweaked it a little to get around the Glock patents.

I love those 45 tupperwares...

Congrats man! I like my XD answer no one knows the question to.

I went to the funshop seeking the .45, but the ".40nswer" just fit my hand better so i bought it.

It's a great gun for me so far. Enjoy!

Edit: spelling.

That grip looks like a chunk of 2x4. Maybe it's just the pics. I can't see liking it, but to each his own! Congrats on getting a cool new toy!

started with WWB 230gr. gun was very controllable and i had no problem knocking down 6" steel plates at 25 yards. it shot about 2-3" low for me but no big surplise my 9mm dies the same with me.

after 100 rounds i moved to hand loads of different weights and velocities. the gun seems to prefer heavier hotter loads. accuracy began to open up with 185gr target loads. i wasn't going for groups but it was obvious the accuracy was suffering.

the next test was mixed mags of varying rounds. mags were stacked randomly with 230gr wwb, aguila hi-q, speer gold dots, lead rnfp target loads. after 5 mags, no failures.

i did notice double taps are a bit tricky. i am used to my 1911's and was having difficulty allowing my finger to move out enough to reset the trigger. this is more a me than a gun problem. the trigger reset is a bit longer than i am used to. training should fix this.

All in all i am well pleased with the gun. the only failure i was able to induce was 1 stovepipe. light loaded target ammo with a limpwrist. <done on purpose> it ran 13 of 14 rounds with this test. most guns i have tried this with fail on each round.

on a side note the z5 light actually held up well. i turned the light on and left it on for the whole 40 min i was hooting and reloading. zero issues with the light at all. Very surprised given the construction of this light.

I think SA has a winner with this gun. it's a bit heavy for CCW for me but for a duty or home defense gun it's really going to be hard to beat for the price.

Great...now I have to go get on too!

Thanks a bunch.

How does limpwritst affect a semi auto? Could it cause FTF?

I almost bought one last weekend at a gunshow.
Link Posted: 3/2/2006 1:16:55 PM EDT

maybe we should start an XD addiction support group

WHEN I get my XD45 it'll make 3 XD's in the safe.

When I got my XD9 Tactical it came with a poster saying that there are 60 different models. I took it as a challenge!

I've been thinking about getting one of these too. There is a Factory shoot at the local fun shop this weekend and Springfield will be there. They usually have show specials. If so, I can't be held responsible for any impulsive purchases.

ETA: Hopefully they'll have a range gun to play with.

Let us know if when it blows up...

(Before the flame commences, that comment has nothing to do with SA [whose products I tend to like] and everything to do with the TBS's apparent knack for being on the outer edge of the bell curve re: having firearms blow up on him. )

Don't do that. I'm addicted to support groups. I'd have to go buy an XD just to join your group.

Wait......

I was admiring these pistols at the SHOT Show a couple of weeks ago.

Here's a 4 inch .45 ACP:

And here's the 5 inch in .45 ACP:

Since a .45 ACP is going to be a little big anyway, I think I would like to get the 5 inch model.

If they shoot anyway near as well as my 9mm XD, I will love it.

I love my XD in 9mm...i've really been looking at the .45 model

The springfield LE guy at shot said that a sub-xd45 is in the works. Oh, I think i just moisted myself...

So what exactly makes it different than a Glock?

I don't know anything about these, but they look exactly like a glock frame with a different slide on it.

When they were first imported as the HS2000 before Springfield licensed them, there was a group buy of them at Glocktalk for something like 300 units, at a great price too. Still kicking myself for missing out.
