That is a normal gunshop price. Would I pay 1800? No, but I also dont live in Cali. Since you guys cant get anything cool, you might as well buy it.

The only issues I know about Springfield M1A's are from cast bolts. I have heard of a few disintigrating, I think it was posted here. I do know they are going back to milled bolts and any GI parts they can get. Other than that I guess they are Ok.

still cast stuff not up to par IMO but on the bright side it seems to be if a cast part is going to take a dump it does it right out of the box so you can get it fixed right |

+1 extractor broke 3 times on my buds SA. They replaced it every time...but his gun was always broken so he rarely gets to shoot it  I vote for a DSA PARA FAL...can you get those in CA? |

because they work good for tight areas and have more hitting power here is mine tho it now has a leupold scout scope on it and a fore grip dam things Heavy i think it helped to throw my back out last week
 i paid 1625 out the door for mine edit to add +650 for the stock its in

why not? Just as accurate as a 20"...sure velocity will go down about 200fps but that doesnt matter much with .308 also, for entry the shorter barrel is better. |

I love the m1a, however I don't think the socom is worth it.
The Socom II is worse with all that stuff bolted to it, but the regular socom isn't as good a tradeoff as the bush rifles are. |

Cast parts. For that kind of money, you might want to look at LRB or Fulton Armory. They are probably more expensive, but they say they use nothing but GI parts. You could get a great para-FAL for that money, but being you're in CA, you're out of luck (unless you want a stripper clip top cover). |
