I am just thinking SBR isn't a option so couldn't a 16" AR do everything I need it to do? Its a good SHTF rifle, it can make long shots also.

Heck i could even swap uppers if I ever wanted to do any long range shooting.

It would be cool to have a 308 AR though...

It's not a matter of need. It's a matter of want.

depends on your crew. I have one and am pretty confident. If you had very little room and coulnt carry alot then maybe a long range upper would do the trick. Its not like it takes time or effort to convert uppers.

However you will never get a reasonable response from these infected people

As many as you can afford. The more the better.

At least one more than you can afford.

An A1 retro gun with slick side upper reciever,
A M-4 copy,
A 20 inch A3,
A 24 inch specialty gun,
A mujahadeen special built as cheaply as possible, with as many home made parts as possible,
at least one gun built from an 80% receiver,
an AR10 with 16 inch barrel,
an AR10 with 20 inch barrel, and
an AR10 with 24 to 26 inch barrel, your choice of contour.

Nine.

If you need to ask, you still need ONE MORE!

You need at least 2 lowers with different stocks and grips and maybe different triggers.

If you don't have at least 6 different uppers, you just aren't keeping up.

14.5" M4gery for the short stuff
16" Recon for the midrange stuff
16" Midlength basic no frills gun because democrats haven't barred them yet
14.5" M4gery from left overs, for the truck, something that can be painted, dropped, and dragged around.

4 is all you really need.  If you need a 20" barrel, you should probably be using a larger caliber.  You can only shoot one at a time, so taylor them to your needs.

All I can say with 100% certainty...is that one is not enough.

My rule is one for every person in your house. Not to mention all the other types of guns.

2 AR's, 1 cheap handout rifle ( enfield )
3 handguns....

and enough ammo to keep them all eating fora few hours non stop..

I used to be in the one AR camp, but you really need as many as you can afford (and then some). At a minimum, you'll make a killing on them if Hillary gets elected and a new AWB goes permanent. Same for mags.

I have a bunch of guns I just am trying to figure out how many Ar's I really need,

can you ever wear out or break a lower?

I say one 16" Middy and a .308 Bolt gun. And spare parts for both. Then toss in a few choice handguns. Then perhaps a loaner AR.... 16" Pencil CAR works great for just about everyone (youngins/women).

haha

I'd say one, but I have to say that whenever I walk into one of my local fun stores, that has them literally by the scores in racks on the walls, I think how cool that would be in my house...

I need four or at least three plus a fourth upper.

1) 16" Superlight carbine for self defense/general purpose/SHTF, etc.
2) 20" HBAR for load developement (those ten shot chrono strings get hot)
3) CMP/DCM legal full target rifle w/comp. trigger (currently under construction)
4) 20" govenment profile light rifle w/light weight scope

Probably should add a spare lower to that list.
