It clearly happens with age... Same eating habits no exercise, how did you except it?
Link Posted: 10/3/2014 11:27:03 PM EST
You don't, you quit eating and you get skinnier.

Link Posted: 10/3/2014 11:27:25 PM EST
How do you spell accept right in the title but not in the actual post?

Oh, I accepted it!!!

I grew up PAINFULLY thin!!! Even when Uncle Sam beefed me up to 175, I looked like a broomstick.
I was ALWAYS freezing cold and shivering if it was under 75 degrees.

Got fat, no more shivering!!! It's fantastic!!!!

I will not, and when time slows me down I will supplement with copious amounts of testosterone and other supplements, even if it takes a few years off of my length of life. Fuck it, I don't care.

My father told me this, "Son, live fast, die young and leave a good looking corpse.".

I agree.

Not fat, not going to be fat. Simple as that. Watch the amount I eat and what I do eat is healthy. Simple lifestyle...

I bitch a lot more than I used too.

I have to be diligent about what I eat and since I've lost so much muscle I can't weigh as much as I used too. 5 years ago 165 was good for me, now I'd say 150 is ideal. I've lost that much muscle.

Link Posted: 10/3/2014 11:38:32 PM EST
If you abuse your body at a young age like i did, you are so busted up when you get older that you can't do much moving and the only enjoyment you have left is eating. I'm ok with it.

Everybody doesn't have to look like a fashion model.

I was fat for the first 20 years of my life. I dont plan on going back.
Link Posted: 10/3/2014 11:40:41 PM EST
So at what age does it happen?
Link Posted: 10/3/2014 11:41:09 PM EST
I didn't. I'm down to 179. I'll eat 1,800 calleries tomorrow and will bike around 10 miles.
Link Posted: 10/3/2014 11:43:13 PM EST
I'll never accept it. It feels too good to not be fat.
Link Posted: 10/3/2014 11:44:20 PM EST
I was trim up through my thirties, but I put on some tonnage in my forties. I keep telling myslef, its only 40 pounds, I can loose it whenever I want. Meh, Im still a sexy mother fucker.
Link Posted: 10/3/2014 11:44:53 PM EST
If I'd accepted it, I'd be fat now.

I didn't and I amn't.

Eat less quantity, eat better quality, cut out crap almost entirely.

Exercise isn't that important, if not counter-productive (gets you a lot hungrier and doesn't burn that many calories really).

I just exercise to be 'in shape' cardio-vascularly and muscularly. It has nothing to do with weight (actually, muscle building is a fattening exercise).

Start saving money. That's all it takes.

I guarantee you that you're spending a lot of money to pay other people to perform simple tasks for you. Fast food - you're not paying for food, you're paying for convenience. Prepackaged foods, precooked/microwavable foods, same thing. Paying for a cable subscription, paying for movies/TV/sedentary entertainment, etc. Paying for someone to maintain your vehicle, paying for someone to cut your grass, paying for someone to fix your house... I don't know exactly what services you buy, but I'm willing to bet you buy something.

One of the best engineers I've had the pleasure of knowing got really fat in his old age. He gave up on working. He worked too hard for too long, and when he semi-retired, he just started paying for people to do everything for him. Plumbing, car maintenance, you name it. This is a guy who spent his whole life turning wrenches, and he just got tired of doing it. A few years later, he had gained so much weight... type 2 diabetes, I shit you not.

Your convenience and comfort has a direct monetary cost, as well as a cost to your health. You are giving up your money and your life in order to be comfortable.

Deal with a little more adversity, and be healthier and richer.

I didn't accept it, so when I started to pork up, I started running again. Problem solved. I'm 47.

ETA: I cut carbs WAY down, I eat more proteins and natural fats and fiber. (Lots of meat, cheese, eggs, veggies) I exclude bread, rice, shit like that.

You don't have to get fat. Think my fathers weight has gone up or down maybe 15 pounds since I was born. I know plenty of guys that haven't put on weight with age so Im going to chalk it up to age not mattering.
Link Posted: 10/3/2014 11:47:27 PM EST

Yeah, it doesn't even require a major lifestyle change. Just:

Eat less at meals basically.

I used to eat 2000cal/day. Then a year or two ago I hit my first 'metabolism downshift'. Now I eat 75% as much high-moderate-cal foods at meals to maintain my old weight. Swap out rice/bread/meat/oil/sugar with veggies/fruit. Still get full, healthier now, don't gain weight. Wasn't very hard or complicated to figure out. Eat fewer "crap meals", ie McD's and Red Robin. If you do, eat half the burger and save the other half for later. Spread the crap out at least.
Link Posted: 10/4/2014 12:14:59 AM EST
Why would you ever accept being uglier and less healthy? Go to the damn gym son!

If you're healthy, you're healthy. Some people are bigger than others. If it bothers you change it.

I'm 61. Right now I weigh 10 pounds more than when I graduated from high school in 1971. Those ten pounds are coming off.

Fatties are gross.

As you see yourself getting fatter and your clothes fit tighter (if at all) you realize you're eating to feel better about X,Y, or Z. That little bit of feel good outweighs the "wow, I'm fucking disgusting." People have varying tolerances for "wow, I'm disgusting." It's why the 300lb person gets a diet coke.
