I want to install carpet in my house. They charge a arm and a leg for install. Is this pretty easy to do. Can I use a normal clothes iron to do the seams or does it not get hot enough. I need all the help you can give. I have done many home improvements with great success. I just don't want to rip up old carpet and them screw up the new carpet. I need to do this my self, as I received my C&R license and have finally run down on my money. It is a very addictive pastime. Plus one hell of a way to build a gun collection!

Do you really need to have seams? Take a look at your layout and see if they can be avoided. However if needs be you can always rent a proper seaming iron at your local rental shop.

You will also need to rent the 'carpet stretcher thingy' that you kick with you knee to stretch the carpet up against the wall. (Don't know what this tool is called, sorry).
