just spent 2 hours trying to find a place to keep my little 38 in a car I recently got and did not find any where except in with the spare tire.

the car is a chrysler sebring made by mitsubishi

Go home you're drunk

Under the air cleaner cover.
Link Posted: 10/5/2014 5:10:44 PM EST
The question is how quick would you want to be able to get to it?
Link Posted: 10/5/2014 5:13:46 PM EST
Glove box, console or secure it under the driver's seat.
Link Posted: 10/5/2014 5:14:02 PM EST
Inside the valve cover or in the oil pan. They will never look there.
Link Posted: 10/5/2014 5:15:12 PM EST
Put 38 in pants pocket

Get in the car

That simple.....

Never amazed here.
Serious Post.
Need to know that, first.

Made the mistake of leaving my G27 in my car. Some piece of shit stole it. My fault

Inside the steering column...

For all the people pooh-poohing the idea, you do know there are states where carrying a gun concealed in your car is legal, correct?
Link Posted: 10/5/2014 5:23:37 PM EST
Inside a tire.

When I have to leave mine in the car;

Won't stop a well prepared thief, but safes it from inquisitive children and snatch & grabs.

In the console, in the door map holder behind a map, between seat and console...

Pretty much anywhere that is out of ordinary observation will do here. It only has to remain concealed in the car until I get out of the car, at which time it goes with me.

Why not just stick it in the glove box or console? My truck has a locking glove box, and the bottom seat cushion in the middle of the 40/20/40 front split bench is also a locking storage compartment. I keep a 4566 in the center console, when I leave the truck it either gets locked in the lower storage compartment or it comes with me.

Open glove box. Remove glove box. There has always been plenty of space for additional items there.

If you can't figure out how to remove, a knife might be more up your alley.

YMMV

No it was the thiefs fault. You had your property secured in your vehicle.
Link Posted: 10/5/2014 5:44:26 PM EST
Put it in your ham wallet.
Link Posted: 10/5/2014 5:46:46 PM EST
Holster in your pants?
Link Posted: 10/5/2014 5:46:51 PM EST

Just put it in your pocket.

If you get caught with it, you just tell them that they aren't your pants.

They can't prove that they're yours so then they can't prove that you knew about the gun.

Put in anywhere that you don't keep your registration, and you should be fine.
Link Posted: 10/5/2014 5:57:08 PM EST
Unlocked center console right next to me. I want it easily accessible...and I can literally have it in my hand pointing in 2 seconds.

Under the drivers seat. Reasonably accessible and hidden enough that a thief would pass over the spot if you happened to leave it in your car.

Just a guess, but you didn't lock the car. Right?

Under the rear seat. Police never look there.
Link Posted: 10/5/2014 6:28:13 PM EST
Gut an old shitty 8 track player and stash it inside.
Link Posted: 10/5/2014 6:38:21 PM EST
In a McDonald's bag with a couple of cheeseburger wrappers on top of it.
In the seat next to you. Second best , find a slightly soiled lunch cooler and drop it in with a few sandwich bags.
Most use some sort of frozen ice block to keep the sammich cool.
So it's not uncommon to pick one up and find it has some heft.

take the radio out and gut the inside and just keep the display. now you have a hiding spot until someone steals the radio

thanks for all the amusing answers.
I need to stow it where I can get to it in a hurry if the need arises.

on this car there is no under the seat, no pocket in the door, the console is about the only option

Get a lefthanded kydex OWB holster. Remove the insert from your console so you can reach down inside it. Mount holster to the left of the console between console and seat with screws formerly used to hold belt or paddle to holster.

ETA: then reinstall console insert. I did this with a leather holster I made to hold a variety of guns.

Keep a pair of work boots on the passenger floor, stick your pistol in there

Genius. Most criminals will not know what they are seeing, let alone check for a gun inside.

Keester.

Just drive with it in your hand.

Or stick it in the sun visor and wear a helmet.

Inside the combustion chamber, no one ever looks in there.

In the flux capacitor, where McFly will never find it...
Link Posted: 10/6/2014 4:23:47 AM EST
OP has taken suggestions and ruled many of them out, anally is the only one he hasn't IIRC so I guess go with that one.
Link Posted: 10/6/2014 4:43:19 AM EST
Keister stashing is the only option...

Seriously though, mine is just in the center console.

If not in NY, should fit in a Super Big Gulp

The oil pan is good, it will prevent rust also.

unfortunately, finding a good hiding place or a place to secure some sort of a locking device can be difficult. The best place is a holster on your belt while wearing it, but sometimes you just can't wear your gun, like at work.
Link Posted: 10/6/2014 10:56:24 AM EST
It's easy.

I can tell you, the bobbed hammer modification really pays dividends, when you go this route.

Don't ask me how I know.
