Seeing fewer and fewer crown vics these days.

Wilmington DE is still running them predominantly from what I can tell.

PA State I see less and less, same with DE.

Just curious.  I can't imagine a 10 year old cop car.

That'd be like a driving school car aged in 100 dog years.

I still see quite a few Crown Vics around Minnesota.

We have a 2001 Crown Vic still running. We use it to run errands. Last I drove it was around a year ago, it had almost 200k miles.

Some Crown Vics still on the road here in CT.
Link Posted: 12/29/2015 9:48:39 PM EDT
We still run probably 15 percent crown victorias the rest is 80 percent chargers, and 4 percent explorers, and 1 percent detective or under covers in fusions, journeys, f150s.

I think there might be a 2011 impala around.  We get new ones a bout every 3 years or so.

Also, there are rumors that Ford will be re-releasing the crown victory next year.... and I'd trade in my charger immediately. It'll be based off the foreign falcons

My city PD and county Sheriff still have a couple of Caprice's.

Have seen an unmarked Chevy S10 that had to be from the early 90s pull someone over a couple days ago.

I still see Vics locally . The GSP and my local sheriff has some. I got pulled over in a while back  Alabama by a Trooper in a 94-04 v-6 Mustang It looked beat and was donated by a car dealer

Out here in my part of rural KY, it looks like most of the agencies are going to 4 door F150's. One agency is running mostly Tahoes and another is 50/50 exploders and Taurus's.

I think my local sheriff still has a 2 door Tahoe, they have not made those since 1999.

Not a cop, but one of the shitty little towns around here has a 90s model Tempo as the "cop car". Its beat to piss and has a single blue bubble gum machine light on top of it.

No way in hell I'm pulling over for that.

My local sheriffs office has a late 80's/ early 90's mustang 5.0 5 speed still out and about. I hadn't seen it in about 3 years but popped up twice on the road last week. About 8 years ago I lived down the street from the deputy that drove it . I would meet him at the 4 way stop every morning going to work . I'd let him go first just to listen to those sweet pipes run through the gears. I miss my 02 GT.

our local department has a few 07 crown vics. mostly using the new ford interceptor suv though.

sheriffs department has an explorer from 05 I think.

when i was in LA a year or two ago I saw a 98 vic being used by a traffic cop (LAPD.)

Like these?

Try pulling me over in an unmarked one of these and I'm automatically thinking police impersonator and potential serial killer.

Haven't seen one up here in at least 10 years

Oldest vehicle still in the patrol rotation is a 2010 Crown Vic, other than that we are rolling in Tahoes. The Vic was great, but the HOE is so much nicer. We do have the school car that is a 97 Vic, beat to hell and no one trusts it to take to out of town training,

fuck i remember those. last one i saw was probably in 2004, in use with the palm springs police department. i'm shocked that there are any of them left.
Link Posted: 12/29/2015 10:12:13 PM EDT
LAPD and LASD still have a shit ton of CVPI's. I even saw a Sheriff marked 94 Jeep Wrangler the other day
Link Posted: 12/29/2015 10:14:02 PM EDT
Our local PD has a mid 90s ford bronco they drag out when it snows. Every thing else out here is newer chargers and tahoes, about a 50/50 split

We have 2 2007 Crown Vics in service.  We finally downed the last of the 2003s last year. No new cars this year and probably none in 2016 either

I never understood why Ford stopped making them.  Yes, it was an old design but that means the tooling has long-since been paid off, and they were still selling a lot of them.

Just seemed like a dumb move.

Some Chevy impalas with the round taillights are still around and in patrol.  Those are the ones from circa 2000-2005.  So at least 10 years old.

Some people really like the old cars, actually.   You might catch days for denting the shiny new ward car, but no one even bothers to check the old shitboxes, plus you might not even be able to tell if you dented it.

My town near downtown ATL still rocks 75% CVPIs. Some of then are probably pre-2000

When did they quit making CVPIs? 2011 or so ?

Probably CAFE or crash safety standards that did it in.

While I do not know that car business, I bet there wasn't a whole ton of profit in selling CVPIs in bulk to public agencies either.

As for the OPs question, the local sheriffs department still has a ton of Crown Vics in their fleet. CHP still has quite a few too.

I think so.  I was in the market a couple years ago for a used, late model civilian Grand Marqis or Vic.

IIRC the last year was 2010 and they made the police cars for an additional year, '11 I think.

I love my '08 Grand Marquis, BTW.  It's like driving a couch to work.  A couch, on a pillow.  And it still will get up and go when it has to.  Helps if you're going down hill to start though.    Have flirted with the idea of tuning it, and maybe putting in a supercharger to make an under the hood marauder clone.

I did like the Impala SS of that vintage.

We have a couple of early 2000's crown vics that are unmarked and issued to our CID defectives and a couple of early 2000's F-150s that are issued to support services.

Our last crown vic was taken out of patrol last year. Now we have primarily Tahoes and a few Chargers.
Link Posted: 12/29/2015 10:25:08 PM EDT
Tahoes, Caprices, and Chargers here.

Colo Spgs used the crapped out Crown Vics for their safety officers, we don't have those in FoCo.

Toledo has a TON of crown vics running. I've seen a few 05s (antenna on the rear quarter) Most are newer.

The recent fleet is 1/2 Taurus, half Explorer. They had about 1 year worth of Chargers and seemed to have switched back to Fords.
The sub station near me has about 15 Fusions unmarked in a variety of colors

In this pic from 4 yrs ago the car to the right is a 99-02 (deeper backspacing)
These lightbars have all been replaced by now. EDIT actually these cars may be gone now. All of the decals for TPD cars have been updated

Agency has 600+ officers....no idea how many cars we have. I know we have some older trucks used for pulling boats/trailers and some shitty training cars. As far as in patrol...probably oldest crown vic may be like like 2010? We have been phasing in the Taurus interceptor which pretty much sucks for everything other than driving fast.  We have old ass undercover cars and such as well

They're back to having the majority of the market share. 60% IIRC between the Taurus and Explorer PI's.

We still have a couple late 00s CVPI's running around. I think the oldest thing at the department is a Excursion.
