Take away the microphone permission in the app and it won't record anything

View Quote I went through my history. Keeping in mind that my phone is with me almost 100% of the day, I found less than a dozen non-intentional recordings from today back to Jan 2016. All were less than 8 seconds long and had nothing but background noise. I'd say this worry is a bit overblown if my experience is representative. |

I don't use Google Assistant. ETA: I checked my google history, only thing on there at the present time is my entire Youtube history. Life's too short to type out the entire list. In "Location" turn of Google Loacation History and Google Location Sharing. Better yet turn off Location unless you really need it for a specific app. Uninstall or disable: Google app Google Play and TV Any other Google app that allows disabling or uninstalling. I have Google Play Store disabled. I use it when I have to. Use DuckDuckGo or some other search engine that doesn't store your life story. If you absolutely have to use Google products they're going to track you. Deal with it or find another app. Oh, remove permissions to microphone too. |

So do you think they track what you search for on the private tabs of safari

no tinfoil here but with my current phone i can remove the battery. that absolutely turns it off. newer phones you cant remove the battery. so theoretically its possible that a hack or modification of the OS on the phone would disable your ability to turn your phone off...something i have been curious about. similarly you can turn off most 'emergency' alerts but a few you cant. I use that as an example. in some cases it has been decided some alerts are so important that your phone must alert you whether you want it to or not.

View Quote Unless you remove that(which you usually cant) your still going to need your tin foil hat. Best bet? Store your phone in a lead box in the freezer separate from your battery. And no, I don't do that. |

There's a laundry list of Android settings to adjust to slow down Google's data mining and snooping. I'm sure this isn't a complete list. Life's too short to type out the entire list. Quoted:You can put your phone in a pocket faraday cage. View Quote The little pocket faraday cage is a soft pouch with some RF absorbing lining like the ones made into wallets and passport cases. It works well enough that the cellphone goes off-grid when slipped into it. The phone get's pissed off and turns it's RF power to full blast trying to get out but can't hit the cell tower that's about 250 yards from me which normally gives four bars worth of signal. |

This is a fantastic thread for this one guy I know at work.
He puts tape over the cameras on his phone. He also hates the Federal Reserve and fiat money but knows absolutely nothing of economics and can't argue his point of view at all. Huh, maybe he's already a member here. |

Slip phone in pocket, poof, no tracking. Take it out to make calls, do "things" uh oh, tracking. Slip it back in, poof, you are techno-ghost. |
